Grocery Budget Challenge {Week 6}

How are you doing with your Grocery Budget?

Did you know we have a weekly challenge going?  Lucky for you, it’s not too late to join!  Here are the details about our 2012 Grocery Budget Challenge.

How did I do last week?  Two words:  EPIC. FAIL.

I’m learning some lessons with this budget.  It takes PLANNING!  Menu planning and be prepared will help us save big time!  AND sending the hubs to Costco isn’t safe!  I was out of town for most of the week and my dear husband was at home with all 7 kids!  It blew the budget this week.  Month to date I’ve almost spent as much as I did all of last month!  YIKES!

MY PLAN OF ACTION:  I’m leaving town again next week for Blissdom.  I’m going to prepare some freezer meals that my hubs (or 13 year old daughter) and quickly throw in the oven.  I also need to get to Albertsons and stock up on a few things with my doubles!  It’s hard after being out of town for several days though… I’ve got to get life back in order!  I’m going to try to hit Albertsons tonight or tomorrow morning (got to organize my last few weeks of coupons first!).

Here is how the fabs are doing on their budget {see some of our shopping trips}…

Not doing so good… I feel like I spend so much time trying to track down the good deals, and I still spend SO MUCH money on food! What am I doing wrong??

    • Cathy of Fabulessly Frugal

Emily, have you made a list of your top 20 items you’d like to stock up on? OR consider menu planning around what is on sale that week and not try and stock up…. just live off the sales?

  • Brenda

I won! Yay! Thanks so much!

  • Gina

Yay for my sister who won this week! She does such an awesome job and has helped me to grasp the basics on couponing. Go Brenda!

  • Nicole

When is it to late to put in your details for the previous week? I don’t know if you have a cut off on Monday or is it Tuesday? I look before I go to work and then when I get home on Monday you have done your last post for the day so I don’t know if it is too late for me to enter? Thanks.

    • Cathy of Fabulessly Frugal

Good question Nicole… you’re going to enter how you did last week in the form right now… and all the shopping that you do this week will be entered on next Mondays post. Make sense? Go ahead and enter right now! 😀

    Hi Amber,

How did you save over $111 at Albies. I love the store. I used my doubles this weekend but was only able to save an extra four bucks with the double the value coupons. Did you have more double the value coupons? If so how did you get them and how can I get more?

I would be curious to see (I know this could be a lot of work…) how this challenge ties in with what’s being put on the table for dinner. I feel confidant enough now in my couponing skills and have a decent stockpile but I have to say (while trying to rally alongside you ladies) some times my menus end up being redundant or flat out booorrrring. I love your recipe posts – maybe you could occas. post what your serving for dinner while on your “challenge”????… Just thoughts. I LOVE what you guys are doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have made a huge difference in my life 🙂

    Hi Ladies,

For some reason the link to see the week 6 spread sheet is not working for me. I want to be sure my entry went in ok. Do you see me on week 6? Jane family of 4 budget of 400?
