Giving Back Opportunity: Local Family Needs Our Help

One of the reasons I love couponing the most is the ability it gives me to share and donate more than I would otherwise be in a position to. So when we hear about opportunities to give back, we like to pass them on so if couponing has allowed you an ample stockpile and you have a few things to spare, you too can help out!

This opportunity springs from a heart-wrenching story (you can read the full story HERE). The short version is that Jodi Bryant, a 4th grade teacher, gave birth to a bouncing baby boy last month. The same day she brought new life into this world, she learned that one would be taken from her shortly. Her husband had been diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. The average survival rate is twelve short months, and after having an emergency surgery to remove his tumor he is now disabled and will require round the clock care.

Friends and coworkers of the Bryant family have stepped up to the plate and organized a great local fundraiser/silent auction that will take place in 2 days. The goal is to raise enough money for Jodi Bryant to take a leave of absence from her teaching job to care for her newborn and her husband.

Silent Auction for the Bryant Family

Where: Chapparal Elementary School, 1155 N. Deer Creek Lane Meridian, ID

When: Wednesday, February 1st from 5:30-7 pm

What: Silent auction on amazing prizes including Roaring Springs and Wahooz passes, restaurant gifts cards and more. We even donated a Kindle to that will be in a raffle!!

If you are unable to attend that great event, you can still help! You can help feed the Bryant family by donating a portion of your stockpile!

  • Marne Clark

There is not a Paypal account set up, but you people can donate to ANY Idaho Central Credit Union in Idaho! Thanks so much for your support.

And thanks Fab Frugal for posting about it!

Does she nurse or is formula need? I just got some to donated and wasn’t sure where I was going to donate it so if they can use it please let me know! Thanks

My daughter attends this school and I am so excited to to be able to help out this family!!! It’s so awesome to see that there are people still out there who are willing to help others out in time of need! YAY for stockpiles 😉

  • There is over 41,000 of us that “like” Fabulessly Frugal, if we could all send $1.00 what a contribution that would be and how little that would affect our budgets. I challenge all Fabulessly Frugal members to send that $1.00 or more. Add that to what this event is going to generate, I think we will be well pleased with our support.

My kids are older, so I am more than happy to donate my diaper coupons, is there anyone near Jodi that could do the couponing for her? Also, where should I mail my coupons (which I will do every week).

I LOVE the idea of the “likers” or even users of FF send a $1, although I will be sending more. The $$ I have saved from this site I love to share, there is simply NO better cause!

  • Heidi

I live in Oregon and will send my donation off to the address above today. Please keep us posted on the outcome of the auction.
I challenge every frugal out there to send a donation today. Even if it’s only $1.00. Great suggestion Becky!

Any way those of us out of state can donate? I would love to help.

Carman, I think it is awesome that you would like to help this family so far outside your community.

  • Meridian Mama

Hi, my 2 sons are both fall babies and I have a bunch of nice baby clothing I’d love to donate if the Bryants are interested. Could anyone let me know? My email is meridianmama@q.com — thanks!

  • Sara

Can they use items like toothpaste, clothing, baby goods, deodorant, etc.? Please email me a response, I probably won’t see this page again.

    Thank you!

Just to double check, ANY Idaho central Credit union?

My heart goes out to this family. This story breaks my heart as it sits very close to home for me. When my mother was 7 months pregnant with me, my father was diagnosed with a glioblastoma. We were in different hospitals and he was not able to be there for my birth (which was also an emergency c-section). He became paralysed on his left side from his surgery to attempt to remove his tumor, but would still try to help feed me and hold me. When I was 9 months old, my dad lost his fight. I am grateful for all the pictures my mother took of us together, the stories my family tells me about him and most importantly, the tape recordings he made for me. They are all I have of him and I cherish them. I will be mailing a check out today to help ensure this family has the opportunity to spend this important time together so they can make memories and document them for their beautiful son. May God Bless them.
