Gardening: Planting Seeds Indoor and Outdoor In April

Time to Plant Peas, Spinach and Lettuce!

when to plant seedlings

My Garden Progress: The last few weeks I have been sharing my gardening plan.  If you live in the Northern States April is the time to plant Peas, Spinach and Lettuce. (Warmer states can plant now if you have not already.) My cucumbers (which I planted too early) and tomatoes are coming right along. You can see the progress in the picture. This week I moved my seedlings into my patio room so they can start getting used to outside temperatures. I am going to plant peas in my garden this week.

Hi! I live in NJ (Central/near the shore). I was thinking of starting some tomato and zucchini plants from seed (indoors). When is a good time? Should I have started already?

Haha! I wish that I could be starting seeds outside. 🙂 My garden is still under about a foot of snow! I’ll be starting my indoor seeds this week and will hopefully be able to start outside mid-late May. 😉

Snow! Yikes. Where do you live? Good luck, it is fun having them indoor. You can keep an eye on them and watch them grow.

I’m in Northern MN. Things are starting to melt, but we have gotten a lot of snow this year and they are still threatening more this weekend. I love winter, but I am so done with it this year. I’m ready for the garden. I was very excited to receive my seeds in the mail today, so that is likely what I will be doing tonight after the kids go to bed.

I just planted my sugar snap peas outdoors, but spinach? I live in the Boise area. Is this accurate Boise people..the spinach?
