Food for Fines at the Ada Community Library (locals)

This only happens twice a year!  Ada Community Library food for fines during National Library Week, April 11 – 17th. Bring in cans or boxes of nonperishable food to put in their Idaho Food Bank barrels, and they will waive your overdue fines up to a limit of $10.  This is a very inexpensive way to use some of that “free” or next to free stockpile from couponing to help people in our community, plus get rid of some fines.  Does everyone have fines or is it just me?

Check your local Library to see if an event like this is happening!

I do!! I’m going today. LOL

  • Sophie

Sweet! I have like $7 in fines. I will happily donate food to get rid of those!

  • Nikki

Really? They don’t allow that all the time. Meridian Library says you can bring in cans of food anytime to pay off your fines. At first it was books only fines, but now if the fine is from a movie, you can pay it off with cans too.

    • Kearna

You are lucky, I was told that Meridian is the only library in the area that does it year round. The Ada Community Library only does this 2 times per year!

  • stephylou

does this work for the Caldwell Library also?

    • Kearna

No, I just called them and they do not have a program that does that. BUT, I also called the Meridian Library and if you bring in food for their program they will take the fines off of your Caldwell Library card (because they are all connected) call them for the details 888-4451.

  • Ami

Yeah for Meridian Library who lets you bring in food to pay for fines any time. As already stated you can pay for book fines OR movie fines with food.

  • Tammy

The Meridian branch on Cherry Lane does this all the time. 🙂

  • Karissa

So what about Nampa… I have over $10 there =(

    • Kearna

I don’t know if the Nampa Library does anything. I called the Meridian library today and was told that they would take the fines off of other libraries card’s (the one’s they are connected to) with food donations. There were some restrictions, if you had more than $5 in fines on one item they will not take anything off that item. Feel free to call them for more information before you go there 888-4451.
