Fab Family Fun: Talent Night
When I was growing up, we had family talent shows every few months. They weren’t big productions put on by people with real talent; just good times that let us live in the spotlight for a few minutes.
Sometimes it was more of a show-and-tell than a talent show. We’d display sports trophies, reflections contest ribbons, etc. The goal was to help us realize that the siblings we thought couldn’t possibly drive us any crazier each had their own gifts and strengths.
My kids are only 4 and 22 months. Here’s what talent night looks like for us:
My Hubs: A sportsman through and through. Watching, playing, ESPN.com-ing, you name it. We let the kids look at some of his old sports pics, and they are fascinated.
Me: Make treats, of course. I’m into writing and crafting, so as far as the half pints are concerned, treat making is all the talent I need!
4 yr. old: We watch him kick some soccer goals and hit a few baseballs. He is definitely his father’s child.
22 Month Old: He’s really good at stealing toys, but we don’t encourage it 😉 We let him build a small lego tower and make him feel proud of his accomplishment.
Treats I made using stockpile items: $1.18. Being together and spoon feeding the kids some self-esteem: Priceless.
If you do family talent night, what are some of the things you share? If you haven’t yet, but are going to, share your ideas!
