Over the past few months, we’ve been testing out some of these DIY cleaners and we love them! They’re cheap to make, easy to make, they work great, and most of them are completely natural.

do you have any recipes for hard water stain removal? We do not have a water softener at home and it is very hard to clean my shower doors (and gets expensive with store bought cleaners)
Is anyone aware that the Blue Dawn has Bleach in it an it warns on the back to not add some products with it? I am fairly positive Baking Soda is one of the ingredients (never to add to Dawn) It releases some sort of Gases that are harmful to our lungs. I’m all for using environmentally safe natural things for cleaning & sanitizing purposes plus it saves so much money, I did the Fabric Softener and it’s wonderful in Lavender because I used Lavender (Suave .89cents Winco) and I already had White Vinegar & Lavender Essential Oil )added a few drops) costing Pennies per load, The Oil I’d purchased to make Bath Salts @ Christmas. Jyst saying you should always check the back of things, Be safe Ladies, God Bless.
I had that problem once, store cleaners never worked for me so… I went to the local ( janitorial supply store) an they sold me something that actually worked in seconds (literally) wax on/wax off lol! Professional stuff, wow it was great, plus I used it to remove water /mineral build up on any windows outside from the sprinklers, it was amazing stuff, cost approx $10.00 one time but had it for quite awhile
Bleach and Baking soda can mix and are frequently used together. I believe you are thinking of bleach and amonia.
I have two boys, and we are on a fixed income. I am so excited to start using these recipes so that i might get to have some pampering money. Lol thank you for all you do.

White disttilled vinegar 1/2 c
Lemon juice 1/2 c
2 c Hot water

i am soo excited!! im a 24 yr old and just bought a house and my fiancee is a clean freak and i fill as if i am always having to buy cleaning supplies and honestly cant afford it…so i aam going out and buying stuff to make these… thank you soo much!!!
For my mirrors in the bathroom I use water and a microfiber cloth. I get the mirror wet with water and then dry with my cloth. I get the cloths at the dollar store. it works great. you should try it!

I tried the laundry soap and it didn’t work for me. If you have any kind of grease spot, from cooking etc. it doesn’t come out even if pre-treated. I was using cold water, but I always use cold on my colored clothes. The detergent I was using always worked good when I pre-treated and used cold water.

Thelma, I was having the same problem so I added some dry color safe bleach, like clorox 2 or Biz. You can also add Oxiclean but that really adds to the cost. It is still cheaper than the store bought but the gap is narrower.
Someone was asking about cleaning the shower doors with hard water. You can spray it with Lemon Juice then use a used dryer sheet (dampen it first) to wipe it down. The citric acid in the lemon juice will cut the hard water stains and the dryer sheet will get rid of the soap scum.

Pretreat with castile soap or even dish soap. It will help the grease release. Even had this work after putting things through the dryer
You can also take that one step further by waxing the shower doors after cleaning. The water will roll off and it won’t need waxing again for approximately a year. Just use a good paste wax for cars.
This also works for tubs and sinks that are not fiber based or stainless steal. Just don’t wax the bottom of the tub.
Put body powder on the grease spots, run it in, let it sit, brush it well. Greasy stuff is absorbed by the powder and brushed away!

Any grease stain is removed by applying a chrisgrease-?wd40 then washing.
Took me 50yrs to figure that one out.

Any suggestions on how to get glue off glass without scratching it? And hot to get wax off carpet and tile?

Tricky! It seems like hot water would melt the glue? And wax you’d want super hot water (to melt the wax) and then a shop vac. I’d google it to be sure, but those are my best guesses. Good luck!
Wax on carpet: I had this happen at church. The candles that were used at a wedding ceremony dripped onto the carpet. We used ice to super cool the wax and then combed it out (depending on the pile of the carpet ours is very short so we used a fine tooth hair comb) as much as possible then use a Steam Cleaner to get the rest.

To remove wax, such as candle wax from carpets,get a brown paper bag and your iron set on a medium setting. Place the paper bag over the wax. Take your pre heated iron and rub on the paper bag. You will see the melted wax soaking into the paper bag, so keep removing the paper bag and placing an unexposed part of the bag over the spot until it’s gone.Thank God for my grandma who saved my butt with this tip when my candle fell off the stand in a newly renovated house we were renting at the time!
if you lay a towel/thick paper towels over the wax on the carpet run an iron over the top and it soaks it up like magic! I spilled green candle wax all over my white carpet and there is zero evidence!

I can help! For the glue on glass, spray it with vinegar! Let it set for a few minutes, then wipe away with a damp cloth.
For the wax problem… take an ice cube and let it sit on the wax. When the ice begins to melt, remove it, and peel the wax up.
Another thing to try for the glue is acetone (nail polish remover). This works to break down superglue if you get it on something.

I was wondering if the laundry detergent was safe for sensitive skin. My husband has extremely sensitive skin and we have been using Free and Clear. I’d love to save the money but it all depends on how sensitive skin friendly it is!

Homemade Laundry Soap- If you use ivory soap for the laundry soap, is it the ivory body bar that you use? I didn’t like the smell of the feb naptha and our store only has the white zote so i’m looking for something else. Thanks
For Sam-
You don’t have to use fels naptha or zote, you can use almost any bar soap(I do!). Ivory is probably one of the better options, especially if you want to tone down(or not have) the smell of fels naptha/zote.
What I do to save even more $$ is, I use up my bar soap from the shower until its so thin, it breaks, or until it’s a quarter of the original size. I then wait until I have several of them in a ziplock bag, then just grate them up and add them to the recipe for laundry soap. Until I started making laundry soap, I was just throwing those little slivers of soap away! Plus, if you do use a scented/unscented bar soap in the shower, chances are you won’t have a reaction to the laundry soap, either 🙂
I’m also guilty of using the last bits of shampoo from samples,bottom of the bottle,etc. to help add cleaning power to the laundry soap–again, just the stuff I’d normally pitch or tuck away in my bathroom(for who knows how long!). Oh, and any samples of laundry detergents(I’m not picky about it being natural or not, if you couldn’t tell lol) I get in the mail-I add those to the mix, too!

So I was cleaning a room in my house, which at a party some toothpaste managed to get on the carpet, don’t know how, and to say the least I don’t want to, but it landed on a spot on the carpet where my daughter’s rabbit had “had an accident” on the floor and it had stained badly, ending up toothpaste with whitening takes out rabbit potty stains in your carpet!
Any ideas on how to get cat urine smell out. We rescued a kitty and he is having a hard time adjusting to his new surroundings.
You for sure need an odor neutralizer… But I would suggest googling it. It can be quite the process (I used an off brand one and went through the entire gallon and it didn’t get rid of the smell for longer than a couple days at a time).
Nature’s Miracle in a spray bottle is amazing on urine smells.you can buy online.

For getting hard water & soap scum off glass bathroom shower doors, I’ve found that using my pumice stone (the one that I use to remove calluses on my feet in the shower) works AWESOME and it doesn’t scratch the glass! I got the idea after watching someone use a pumice stone to remove hard water stains from under the toilet rim.

Pretty good list of cleaning stuff that can me be made at home. Some are surprisingly easily available and easy to acquire at stores.
