DIY Weed Killer- Only One Ingredient!
I hate to admit it but my house is surrounded by weeds! I guess that’s the price you pay for living in the country! Well, I’m sick of using Roundup and other harsh chemical weed sprays. I’m afraid of what they will do to my four-legged children. They like to graze on my grass the same way my cows do! This makes me a little crazy because I worry about what they are ingesting. So, I decided to use that miracle worker we use in almost everything–vinegar! Yes, vinegar!
I didn’t take any instructional pictures because everyone can figure out how to open a vinegar jar! 😉
Once you open the vinegar up, simply pour onto the weeds you want to get rid of! If you only have a few weeds (unlike my large patch), you can add your vinegar to a spray bottle and saturate the base of the weeds with it. If you have really tough weeds, add a little salt to the mixture. Just be careful when it comes to pouring the vinegar. It isn’t picky. If you pour it on your grass, it will kill that too!
This is what I started with…
This is after a single day!
You can actually see where I stopped pouring! Surprised? I was!
You can pick up a gallon of vinegar for a little under $2.00 while roundup costs almost $20 a gallon! There is a HUGE savings margin here!
This is the most economical and “green” way to get rid of weeds! If you worry about chemicals the same way I do (and enjoy the savings just as much), this may be the ticket to getting rid of weeds for you too!
