DIY – Recycle Your Old Cd Case Covers

Here is a great Idea on how to re-cycle your old CD covers that are laying around.  You can make these any way you want with pretty much any supplies you have laying around.  First you need to pick out pictures you want to use.  I always make copies with my scanner to use in case I mess up it is not an original picture.  If you don’t have a scanner you can always go to Walmart or Walgreens to make copies as well.

Materials needed:

glue (both hot glue and a tacky glue like elmers)

sea shells

paint brush

Foam letters

*please note that you can use anything you want to make your picture frame unique

First you start off with an idea of what you want your frame to look like.  I used ribbon to make the Cd Case appear like it had a mat to surround my picture.  Next I made a bow and hot glued it to the bottom of the frame.

Another idea would be to use a paint brush to brush on glue and sprinkle glitter or sand on the Cd cover, let dry completely.  Then add foam lettering to caption your picture or sea shells for a beach picture.  If you don’t want to glue to the outside of your frame you can always use card stock and create your own mat to frame your picture and slide in to the case so it is protected.  To hang this frame you could use a long piece of ribbon simply laid across the spine inside and close your case then tie off you ribbon and hang.

Once you decide if you will use your Cd frame on a desk or wall you can fold your case almost backwards to have a platform for it to sit up on.  When I reuse in this way I use for a recipe holder and I don’t really decorate it as it would be on the back side. You can also glue ribbon to the Inside of the back of the case to hang on your wall.  You can also glue ribbon to each side of your case inside to only allow it to open a few inches to set on your desk as well.

As I said before there are so many ways to re-use your old Cd cases and next week I will show you some ideas on how to re-cycle your Cd’s that are scratched up.  Keep an open mind and your creations will be endless.  These make a great gift for a grandparent, or even a bridesmaid gift for them to remember a great occasion and with it being homemade you will surely have a great response.  As Always Happy Crafting!
