DIY Stain Remover

stainremover

Always looking for ways to save on cleaning products, I came upon this link from Buzzfeed, with a list of DIY Household Products.  I have not seen a recipe for Stain Remover, so figured when I saw it, I should give it a shot.  With just 3 ingredients, all on hand, I whipped it up in minutes!!

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup baking soda

1 cup Hydrogen Peroxide

2 cups water

Mix together in a large spray bottle all the ingredients.  I poured the baking soda onto a piece of paper and then funneled it into the spray bottle.

Here is to hoping it works, and doesn’t bleach any clothes from the peroxide.  Will start with white clothing or grungy play clothes first!

Update:  I used it on a white t-shirt that got some rust on it from an obviously not so pricey necklace I was wearing.  Worked pretty well, and only has one small spot on the collar where it did not come ALL the way out.  Still haven’t tried it on colors yet…

I use peroxide to get stains out of my carpet all the time. I use it as a pre treatment. After it sets for a while I go over it with my shampooer and haven’t ever had a problem with it discoloring my carpet. So I wouldn’t think that it would ruin your clothes as long as it didn’t set for long periods of time.

  • Thanks Rebecca, that is good to know!!
