Childrens Art Class Scholarship {Boise}

We love kids over here at Fabulessly Frugal (between the five of us there are 18.5 kidlets – of course nearly half of those are my own!)… we are teaming up with Alyson at Creative Elements to offer a scholarship for one child to take an Art class this summer!! The scholarship is for $55… which will pay for one class, or can go towards the two session “Drawing and Design” course.

We need your help!

Do you know of a child with artistic talent that would benefit from a course but would be unable to pay? Just write a short paragraph letting us know about this child and their situation. We will team up with Alyson to pick the most deserving child (a difficult task I’m sure!).

I asked Alyson to tell us a little about herself, so you can understand her mission!

Hey Fab Friends! When I was in grade school I remember a specific day when Mrs. Griffin, the school art teacher, came up to me as I was working on an art project and told me that I was quite an artist. I’m not sure I was an artist before that, but from that day on I was an artist. I absolutely love seeing children go through the creative process. When my own children started asking if there were any art classes they could take, I realized that’s what I needed to do. I started Creative Elements.

This summer and next year after school I will be offering fun art classes that support the elementary school art curriculum. More importantly, these classes will focus on helping children learn to tap into that creative side. Not all children will become artists, but all will need to be creative to be successful in whatever they become. I earned an Associates of Fine Arts from Ricks College (BYU-Idaho) and a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Southern Utah University. I also earned a Secondary Education Certification with a K-12 endorsement in Art and Spanish. I received the Pestalozzi Award for Outstanding Education Graduate from SUU. I briefly taught art in the Meridian School District before I “retired” to raise my own four little masterpieces. I’m excited to be offering courses that will meet the needs of children of all ages, including toddlers and children with special needs. I hope to see many of your sweet children this summer!

Go check out Alysons blog for course descriptions, and the 2010 Summer Schedule. You can also register right there on her blog!  Did you know she will also come to your home (supplies included) and hold an art workshop for your child and their friends?   Won’t you LOVE having this activity lined up for your kids this summer when they start saying “I’m bored!”. Thanks Alyson! We’re excited about this unique opportunity for a child of one of our readers!

Be sure to let us know of a child that could use this fabulous art class scholarship!!

Thanks all you fab fruGALS (and guys!!)! Leave a comment or you can even email us at fabulesslyfrugal at gmail dot com!

    I’m looking for a fun art class for my 2-year-old and came across your website after I ‘Googled’ in my key words.
    Are you still offering this course? I live in Boise so this would be a good fit for me. If you are not offering the course. do you know of any other groups or businesses that offer art classes for toddlers?
    Thanks !
