My New Favorite Camping Gear!

My favorite camping items

My latest camping finds!

I just recently got back from a family reunion of camping up in the Idaho Panhandle area and it was awesome! Beautiful as always, no rainy weather, and lots of fun. We went on a little hike, played in the lake, and had fun on the uncle’s boat.

This was our first time tent camping together in a long time, so each family had some new gear. It was fun walking to each site and checking it all out! There were a few items that we were all loving and will all be owning by the next camping trip. If we had mobile service out there, we probably would’ve hopped on Amazon and ordered right then. 😉

Camping Trash Can

Coghlan’s Pop-Up Camping Trash Can $11.99

Ships Free with Amazon Prime (Try a FREE Membership)

This was the #1 most envied camping item among the fam. My brother-in-law got it at Cabela’s for about $14.99, but I found the exact same one on Amazon for $11.99! Each of our families will be sporting this next time around for sure!

  • Collapsible for easy storage
  • Zip shut to keep bees and more out of the garbage when not in use
  • Use any standard 33 gallon trash bag to line the can

Coleman Carryall Camp Mat - Red Grey

Coleman CarryAll Camp Mat $36.01

This is another one that my brother-in-law snagged from Cabela’s. (It is listed at $39.99 on though. I might need to have a talk with this brother about checking Amazon first. Ha!) My husband immediately wanted one when he saw it placed it front of their tent.

You can get a simple tent mat for cheaper – this Coghlan’s Inside/Outside Tent Mat is $9.99 online right now. BUT you have to admit that the water resistant fabric and storage pockets for shoes are petty darn cool on the Coleman Carryall. It includes anchoring stakes too. I’m thinking I might order one and stash it away as a gift for the hubby.

  • Water-resistant, durable fabric with carpeted walkway area
  • Washable or just spray off with a hose
  • Zippered storage pockets
  • Anchoring stakes included

There’s a Coleman CarryAll Camp Mat in Neon/Gray available too.

Waterproof Phone Pouch $8.99

Ships Free with Amazon Prime (Try a FREE Membership)

My sister-in-law was sporting a waterproof phone pouch during the trip. She often wore it around her neck with the lanyard, so yeah, there were many jokes about it looking like a backstage pass and what not. But it worked great and she was crowned as the trip photographer since she was able to take pictures with her phone on the boat and more without worrying about ruining her phone.

I am planning to get one for future trips, so I looked for one with lots of good reviews and am hoping to get a good quality that I can trust with my phone. This one comes in a few different color schemes and fits phones up to 5.3 inches. The JOTO Waterproof Bag also looks like a good option.

  • Fits phones up to 5.3 inches
  • Waterproof, dirt-proof, and dust-proof
  • Touchscreen and camera work through the plastic!

If you have a bigger phone, I would consider this SafeWays Waterproof Phone Bag that fits up to 7 inches. It also claims to have a stronger lanyard and includes a warranty.

Coghlan's 0433 Adjustable Bungee Clothesline, length 6'

I also decided that we could use a designated clothes line for hanging out swimsuits and towels to dry. I think it would be nice to have some sort of hook or something that allows us to forego any attempted knot-tying around trees. 😉 If you have a great one, let me know.

I’m looking at the MSR Dry Line Kit, Coghlan’s Adjustable Bungee Clothesline, and this Nylon Clothes Line right now. Which would you get?

There were a few other choice items that some of the family members were raving about from REI, like the Kingdom tent, Screen House Shelter, and the REI Relax Queen Air Bed…but I will have to save up for a bit and wait for a coupon code before I can start purchasing those. 😉

  • Because Amazon’s prices fluctuate so much and some times so quickly, please don’t be mad at me if you miss this great price! Also, see why we ♥  Amazon Prime for free shipping! This post contains our affiliate link. Please read our DISCLOSURE POLICY here.

  • The waterproof case for your phone is a must! I bought 3 of them off amazon a month ago since we live on the lake. I did the unthinkable and fell in the lake while climbing onto our pontoon last week. THANKFULLY I had my phone in the case. It saved my phone. Best money I spent last month.

  • I found amazing stuff at Camping world if you have small children to make it a little eassier.
They have foldup high chairs and playpens and walkers etc. These are like the folding chairs that fold and slide in the carry bag that we all use. Thought I would share cause I have never seen anything to make camping with little ones easy lol

    Check it out
