Budget Challenge 2012 {Week 16}

How are you doing with your Grocery Budget?

Did you know we have a weekly challenge going?  Lucky for you, it’s not too late to join!  Here are the details about our 2012 Grocery Budget Challenge. Even if you are not yet using coupons you need to start saving by setting some goals!

Here is how the fabs are doing on their budget…

Monica: Feeding a family of 4

Monthly grocery budget: $150

Spending this week: $36.68
Savings this week: $27

Spending For April: $111.02
Savings For April: $196.15

Year to date spending:  $526.94
Year to date savings: $719.58

I had a friend hook me up with her extra doubles and I had to sneak back to Albertsons for some more doubles action! I spent $9.68 for 4 boxes of Kellogg’s cereal, 4 gallons of milk and 2 more bags of Sweet Potato fries! We also had a BBQ this weekend with friends to celebrate the nice sand volleyball weather and fresh sand for the court! The hubs wanted Brats which I do not keep in my stockpile so I had to make a Costco run for brats and buns and I could not resist their delicious strawberries! I also snagged a case of water for the BBQ and spent $27 at Costco. Looks like I have $38.98 left to spend this month if I am going to reach my goal. I cleaned out my freezer this weekend and took an inventory of what is inside. I think I will use up some of my freezer meals this week and see if I can stay out of the store. Although Albertsons Round-up is calling my name! I am sure I could do that for under $38!
