This easy little appetizer is sure to be a big hit at any party, and especially for Super Bowl gatherings. I almost had all of these little delights assembled by the time my oven was up to temp! I decided to try it out with turkey bacon and turkey sausages. It was still pretty yummy, but keep an eye on them because they cook a little faster.
Preheat oven to 325 and line a baking sheet with foil or a silicone liner. Using a pair of kitchen shears or a knife, cut the slab of bacon into thirds. Wrap 1/3 of each slice of bacon around each sausage and place on the baking sheet, then secure with a toothpick. Repeat with remaining sausages and bacon. Pile some brown sugar on each sausage. Bake at 325 for 40-45 minutes or until bacon has cooked and is starting to brown.
You can bake them in advance, then just throw them into a slow cooker on the keep warm or low setting. They will taste even better after they have that time to marinate in there.
Try adding a little mustard to the brown sugar and make a glaze, then bake. It adds a nice little zing to it.
