If you own an Amazon Kindle, then you need to get savvy with the Amazon Kindle Book Store!

Here are a few tips and tricks to finding the books you want when browsing the Amazon Kindle Book Store.

  1. Click here to get to the Kindle Store on Amazon.
  2. Then on the left hand side of the page, click on “Kindle eBooks
  3. From there you can sort by category… I love to look through the Children’s eBooks because they have them categorized by age from there!
  4. Also note that you can view the top 100 free ebooks when you’re in  any Kindle eBook category. Sweet!

Amazon makes it so easy to browse in the Amazon Kindle Book Store.  Just another reason I love my Amazon Kindle!

You can find many ebooks that are free at some point or another on Amazon.  Even though they are free, doesn’t mean I’ll get them.  I don’t always want to clutter up my Amazon Kindle with a ton of “meh” ebooks.  My favorite eBooks to get are usually the ones that are recipes, cleaning tips, and organizational books.  That way I don’t have to worry about picking out a book that ends up being offensive.  🙂

eBooks and Kids

While it’s great to let your littles have access to the Kindle, there are plenty of non-kid friendly ebooks you probably don’t want them to access.  That’s why I’d recommend using the Kindle Free Time app on your Kindle.  You can find it in the app store on your device.  It’s an interface just for the kids where kids can only access kid friendly stuff.  You can also set screen time limits (by app, book, and video categories).  I love it!

The Kindle Lending Library

If you are an Amazon Prime member, you can borrow one book each month.  The only way to do this though, is to access it through the Kindle Fire… you can’t do it from your desktop (which is annoying at times… well, OK…. it’s annoying always).  Not all books are available to borrow either.  Browse the books that are available by going to the Books section on your Kindle.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap on “Kindle Owners’ Lending Library”.   If you’re looking for a specific title, just search for it in the book store.   When you select the book, you’ll see where you can tap on “Borrow for Free”.

Don’t Have a Kindle?  You Can Still Access the Amazon Kindle Book Store!

Kindle ebooks can be read on almost any device!  Even if you don’t have a Kindle, you can enjoy their vast selection of ebooks!  Get the Kindle App on your smart phone, or read on your desktop via the Kindle Cloud Reader.
