A BIG FAT Weekly Cinema Apology!
Okay guys, I’m really bummed to tell you it looks like Weekly Cinema is tanking! I just want to take a second to apologize for any inconvenience this causes you.
We here at Fab Frugal try to only post deals from reputable companies. Your trust is super important to us! Most of the time, we will do the deal ourselves to make sure it is legit. That was the case with Weekly Cinema. I signed up. I loved it. My family members signed up. They loved it. My friends signed up. They loved it too. The company, while a relatively new company, was partnering with reputable sites like Fandango and Groupon. We had no reason to question their validity.
As most new companies do, they experienced their share of issues. Each time we received a complaint, I would take that complaint to the company. I always got a quick response. They assured me they were addressing the issue or that customers could reach a customer service rep almost immediately on their live chat. I had no qualms about passing on that deal to you after the great experience I had with them.
Unfortunately, it looks like they are closing up shop. They are offering refunds of unused tickets. If you had tickets through your membership with Weekly Cinema, you can request a refund through them by emailing: email@example.com. If you purchased tickets from them through a deal site, you can call the deal site directly for a refund: Groupon (877) 788-7858, Tippr (866)-347-0752 or Living Social (877) 521-419. Here is a bit more info directly from Weekly Cinema:
We will be issuing refunds to our monthly subscribers based on the number of tickets in their account which have not been used and also the subscription they were signed up for. In order to receive a refund please tell them to contact us via live chat or firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be able to process this request in an efficient manner. Also it is not necessary to request a charge back to their [credit card] account as we will be issuing refunds to the customers. Our refunds will also come quicker than if a user were to request a charge back.
Please know that although the company is shutting down, it was not a scam. For months thousands of customers received half priced movie tickets without a hitch. The company was legit, I believe it was just poorly managed. While we will never know the true reason, I do take full responsibility for passing on a deal to you that turned sour. And trust me, I’m just as upset as you!
Going forward we will proceed with extra caution when it comes to promoting new unestablished companies! Lesson learned.
