When you redeem your certificate your bill must come to at least $35 (some are now $50 – so read the offer carefully). Buy the certificate for $2 and you have to spend at least $35.  You are also required to pay an 18% gratuity.

$35.00 total bill (if it’s just the two of you, you can “splurge and get dessert or an appetizer)
+ 6.30 (18% Gratuity)
= $41.30
– $25.00
(Restaurant.com gift certificate)
= $16.30
+ $2.00 (the cost of the gift certificate)
= $18.30 for a nice dining experience!

We have used 3 of these so far and really love them. Readers should be aware though that there is also a 18% gratuity automatically added (before deducting the $25) which I don’t see on yours.

    • Amber

It depends on the restaurant. It will always say in the fine print whether the 18% gratuity will be applied. In this case, the restaurant were we dined does not have servers, so no gratuity was added!

    • Rana

I have used these at 4 different restaurants and none have ever added the gratuity themselves. I always tip what I would have without the discount anyways.

Also, people should pay close attention to the small print. Some have days you can’t use them or other restrictions.

Just wanted to point out that the coupon codes for 80% off work for more than just the $25 gift certificates. I’ve purchased $100 gift certificates for $8 in the past, and recently gave a 12 month Dinner of the Month Club as a wedding gift (with a note telling them to go on at least one date a month to keep the romance alive). It cost me $25 and is worth $120!
