52 Weeks of Pinterest: Week 23 – Father’s Day Shadow Photo!

This year I wanted to go with a resolution I would have no problem sticking to! Then as I was pinning an item on Pinterest, a light bulb flashed on above my head. Ok, maybe not literally, but this great idea popped into my head. Those of us who are Pinterest users know that we pin hundreds of things a week, but do we ever do them? So I decided this year I would do one of my pins every week. At the moment, 52 weeks of Pinterest was born. Each week I will do something I found on Pinterest rather it be a craft, new recipe, organizing technique, or whatever!

We have all seen the “We Love daddy” photo all over Pinterest. Good luck finding any that link to an actual page though. I was trying to hurry and get a Father’s Day gift done today and this was my plan. After not finding the original link with instructions .. I winged it and did my own thing!

So this week we did the Shadow Pictures!

What you need:

Kids 🙂
Cardboard or Poster Board
Exacto Knife or Scissors
Sunlight

All you need to do is pick your text you would like and cut it off your cardboard or poster board. I cut mine exactly the way you would read it, left to right.

Ignore the mess. In the middle of a remodel.

Make sure when you are doing letters like “a,e,d,b,o,p, & R” that you keep a piece of your board connected so that your letter stays the shape it is supposed to be. You can see this above in my E & O.

Now the fun part. Drag your kids out on a beautiful sunny morning and start snapping some photos. You will have to play with it until you get the right angle. I took my pictures with the sun facing their backs and me facing them.

You will need to have the kids hold the signs upside down for them to be read the correct way. You can see this in the image below.

My girls were not every impressed with me this morning and please don’t mind my oldest’s outfit .. she is all about doing everything herself! 🙂

After a few different photos. I got some I was content with. I had mine printed in black & white as a 16×20 at Walgreens for $11! Doesn’t get much better than that for last minute and budget friendly gift.
