Walmart Deals As Of 10/2/11 {Free Cover Girl, Scrubbing Bubbles, Old Spice,Tree Top, Suave Kids, Scope Rinse and more!}

October 3, 2011 53 Comments | Disclosure

Here are the FAB deals I found this week at Walmart! These prices come from the 12th/Greenhurst Walmart in Nampa, Idaho. Prices and deals may vary by store. Walmart does not publish a regular weekly ad or have a sales schedule so we never know how long the Rollback prices will last! Use my list as a guide when planning your shopping trip! There are quite a few match ups and rollbacks, so please feel free to share any other good deals you find! Also, be sure to read my Walmart Shopping Tips post for Price Matching tips and more!

Check out the Walmart Key!

Because Walmart IS the generic/mass/superstore, the brown star on this match-up represents items on sale or (Rollback). These items are priced lower then the everyday price. Grab a few but wait for a better deal to stock up!

No star- Means ok price, pick it up if you’re there and you need it.

★-Means item is currently on Rollback (sale). Better then the everyday price. Just grab a couple.

– Means awesome price! Stock up, buying only what you know you and your family will use :)

Price Matching at Walmart…

(Price Matching at Walmart is a great way to save time, gas and money! You can do it with or with out coupons. I personally love to price match produce because we rarely see coupons for fresh fruits and veggies! To price match, simply show the cashier a competitor stores ad price for an item and they will adjust the price to match! Be sure to show them the ad before they ring up the item and double check that the item you are buying is identical in brand, size and quantity to the item in the competitor ad. 1. I went to Wal-mart today to pick up the scrubbing bubbles automatic starter kit. It is actually 9.97, the refills are 3.97 so unless there is something i’m missing; you would only be getting the refills for free. Please let me know if I missed something. I just wanted to pass this along since I was dissapointed when i went shopping today not to find it on sale.

    • I think it depends on what walmart you go to.  My sister was at the one on glenwod and state and she texted me that it is free there too with the same deal.  Walmart prices can vary by store so you have to find the right one with the same price…

      • It’s in their Ad that came out this past Sunday put it is not ringing up for $3.97 they have to price over ride it.

    • there is a kit that is a refill with FREE starter kit that rings up the 3.97 (refill) price, but the starter kit coupons work on it.

    • I ran into that also. I showed the cashier the ad. She had to call the manager to override the $9.97 price because that was more than she could adjust it on her own.

    • I went to Walmart too and asked a manager about the difference in price.  He called the head manager and they said it must of been a typo but they gave me two boxes of the $9.97 for  the $3.97 plus I had two coupons for $4.00 off.  So I got them for free.

    • at my Walmart they didn’t have the starter kit… only refill.. disappointing but it happens! :)

    • i had the same problem however in the ad it said 3.97 so i am not sure what the problem is

      • I just went to Garrity Walmart and asked if they would be getting more in.  The cashier said they are not lettting us use the 4.00 coupon because the ad states it is a limited time only item and the picute in the ad and the picture on the coupon do not match up so even if they had them she would not of let me use them?  Only Walmart, I always have so many problems with them.  I have also noticed with them that when we have a high value coupon they will raise the price of that item until the coupon expires and some stores will also keep stuff in back until coupon has expired this has happen on a lot of items I have been waiting for and then once the coupon is expired…oh my there is the product right on the shelve!!!!!!

        • It only makes perfect sense that wal mart won’t price match the item if it’s not the EXACT same thing.  If the ad is for refills, than they will pricematch the refills.  If the ad is for the actual contraption, why in the world would they price overide to the $3.97 refill price it if that is not the exact item on sale??  I think people are trying to get this deal dis-honestly…..  Dishonest people and couponing are going to ruin it for everyone!  :(

  2. It was on rollback at my store for the 3.97, they even had a magazie flyer that showed it on rollback.

  3. Hi everyone… I’m a newbie.. second shopping trip today but while searching Walmart for scrubbing bubbles and the bissell stomp pad (They had neither) I came across woolite pet urine removal carpet cleaner… There was a $1/1 coupon in Sunday’s paper and its also a try for free product up to $5.99. It was $3.97 at Walmart less the coupon so it was only 2.97 w/ MIR. I paired it with covergirl coupon $8/2, and used overage to buy the copper and stainless steel pads and soup :)

  4. There’s so many good items, I hope I get some of them. My walmart has a shelf clearer who comes in early sunday morning.

  5. I went on sunday at 8 in the morning with the add and the cashier told me NO! She stated that it wasn’t the correct one because the picture in the add had a arrow. The rest of it was the same. She said that they were out of stock and that they couldn’t sell it to me for that price. The manager came by and she said they were out of stock. “BUT I CAN SURE GIVE YOU THIS ONE FOR THE PRICE OF $9.00,” in a vary rude voice. They sure lost my buisness =( Atleast for that day. Because you know that I will shop there regardless of their add flaws and rude managers and cashiers.

  6. Oh I forgot, when you open them up there’s two 3 dollar coupon for another starter set and a $1 off refills!! Even if you’re out of your $4 coupons you can still get more for $1 yay!

  7. Are the $8/2 CG Face Products not in Idaho? I did not get it in my P&G :(

    • I got them in Idaho.  I get the Press!!!

    • I was one of the lucky (not!) people who didn’t get doublers or the SS in last Sunday’s Statesman.  Just the P&G, Moments to Save, and a really skinny pitiful RP.  But I did get the $8/2 Covergirl coupon.  It might have been in the RP.  I dont’ remember for sure, and I’ve clipped everything now, so I can’t tell any more.

      • Oh yay!! I found them! :) thanks girls! And Susan, I know what ya mean because I too did not get the SS or doublers :( Not sure what the heck happened…

        • doubles are will only be in your paper if you have a subscription for the paper and have it delivered to your house.  If you just buy a sun paper at the store, there will be no doublers but you should get everything else.

  8. What is a good “stock up price” for spagettios.  I know their normally  .89-$1.00.  My daughter eats the heck out of these things.  Any suggestions would be welcomed.  Thanks

  9. I’m new to couponing and keep having frustrating trips to the grocery store. I just got back from Safeway and realized that the cahsier put in my “free” Open Nature ice cream coupon as only $2.49 off so still paid $2 for it, and when I attempted to use 2 of the $2/1 Crest toothpaste coupons to get them for $.29, they didn’t show up on my receipt so I paid $2.29 for them anyway! :(  My Wal-Mart trip was frustrating as well because they were out or didn’t have of a lot of the items I had coupons for. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does everyone watch as the cashier scans every single coupon to make sure they ring up properly and that they’re entering the correct amount for any freebie coupons? If you realized you should have saved $6 more than you did, would you go back to the store? I want to be successful at couponing but feel like I’m failing! Any suggestions would be very helpful!

    • I track on my cellphone calculator what I am putting in my shopping cart…shelf/sale price listed less coupon so that when I get to the register and its off from what I expect I can question it before closing the transaction…after the fact its harder for them to fix it, if they will?

    • I always watch the cashier, know how many coupons i handed them per item and count each coupon added to the screen along with the beeps. Also i have usually figured out what the end price will be or ball park figure. If something dosent seem right i check my receipt to make sure its right before i leave the store. I assure you with practice everything will just become habit and you pick up on most errors right off the bat. The other day i noticed right after i had paid for my items that i didnt have 3 $5 off coupons on my receipt only 2. Let the cashier know and he gave me my cash back! and then you dont have to go home bummed out, its already taken care of. And yes in my opinion always go back to the store, thats the easiest way to make a buck…it just might take a little extra of your time! Good Luck!

      • Thanks, Lacey :) A little extra effort on my part would definitely make me feel better about it if it means getting the deals I was hoping for! Thanks for the encouragement too – I figure it will get better as I keep with it, I just have to pay closer attention while I’m at the store.

    • Anna, I like to use self-checkouts for this very reason.  It’s easy to watch as you scan items to make sure they ring up at the price you expect.  If something isn’t right, you can call a cashier for help right then.  You can also scroll back on the screen to see the individual line items before finalizing the transaction.

With a cashier, they scan so quickly that it’s hard for me to keep up.  Unless I’m buying just a few items, it seems like they’re always halfway done scanning before I even finish unloading my cart, making it a lot harder to watch the screen closely.

As others have pointed out, I also use a calculator as I’m shopping to keep track of how much my shopping trip will be.  If the total ends up being different from what I’m expecting, I can figure it out before leaving the store.  If there is a line behind me or if the cashier was cranky, I’ll go ahead and finalize my purchase, then step aside and figure out what went wrong, and go to customer service to get it fixed.  Otherwise, if it’s not busy and I feel like the cashier will be kindly willing to help me figure it out, then I’ll inquire right then before finalizing the transaction.

If I get home and discover an error, I may or may not go back to the store to have them fix it.  It depends on how much it was and how much of a hassle it would be.  If the error involved coupons — like in your situation where the $2 Crest coupons didnt’ come off — your best bet is go back right away.  Otherwise it’s just your word against theirs.  But if the error is due to an item not ringing up at the correct price, I usually just keep the ad and the receipt and stop by CS the next time I’m in the store.  I’ve done that a couple of times, and they’ve always just refunded me the difference, no problem.

Hope this helps.  Hang in there — it does get easier.

    • Anna,

Another suggestion I would offer is, before handing your stack of coupons to a cashier, stack them so that they are varied in size, shape, and texture.  For example, alternate your printables and insert coupons.  And also fan them out a little, especially if they have been gang cut. If they are still stacked that way from being clipped, it’s easy for them to get stuck together, causing the cashier to miss one.

I have a friends who uses a ton more coupons than I do, and what she does is hold on to her stack of coupons and hand them over a few at a time, casually saying out loud something to the effect of, “I’ve got two of these, three of these, etc etc.  If the cashier knows what’s coming, she/he will also make a quick mental note of what coupons they are scanning.

Make sense?  Takes longer to explain than to actually do.

      • I didn’t realize you could scan your own coupons at the self-checkout! Thanks for the suggestion! If my load isn’t too huge, then I will definitely do that next time! That’s a great idea to organize the coupons differently too so I don’t have multiples of the same coupon stacked together, possibly getting missed by the cashier. I also thought maybe with my coupons for freebies I might just put the coupon on the actual product that’s supposed to be free so they don’t have to try and search for the price at the end, possibly entering the wrong amount in an attempt to speed the transaction along, which is what I think happened with the “free” ice cream problem. I also want to try and figure out the best times to go so I’m not holding up the line as much. I went to Safeway at 10:30 pm and there was only one cashier so by the time we were done, the line was backing up quite a bit, making me feel rushed and like I shouldn’t hold it up anymore. I don’t want to be the couponer that everyone dreads! Thanks so much for all of your suggestions – it’s very helpful and encouraging :)

    • I’ve gone back a few times. Albertsons has always been super helpful, KMart has been terrible. It prob just depends on your particular stores. But I think $6 is worth at least asking about! If it’s a coupon issue it is easier to correct before they close the transaction or asap after. If I can, it’s nice to give the cashier the coupon as they are scanning the item. It doesn’t give the wow factor of watching the price drop and drop at the end but I can keep better track of the price ringing up for each individual thing. Obviously that’s hard to do with a big order or for deals where you save .50 on each after buying 8 various items etc. Good luck!

      • Thanks Michelle! I think I would have felt better if I had gone back to the store. It’s been a few days now, but I still might go and see if I can get my money back on the toothpaste or possibly return it if they let me.

        • I also lay my “free” coupon right by the item, that way when they cashier rings it up, he/she can write the price in right away and avoid having them to have to look for it and possible be wrong. I agree, $6 is definately worth going back for!

  10. went to walmart yesturday had coupons for the schick razors they never seem to have the right ones in stock so was looking at the fred meyers add and they had them for 1.99 took the ad with me and got the 1.99 price.  ended up getting 12 packages of 12 count, 8 packages of 3 count 2 edge shaving cream pice matched at .99 from fred meyers and 1 sure deo for free thanks to the double coupons from albertson. total if i would have paid retail 134.09 but the store paid me .87 to take it all out of the store. but had to watch the cashier like a hawk but i all ways do ..also taget price matched 4 of my  scrubbing bubbles and fred meyers did it for 2 but told me they would not do it again which kinda made me feel like not shopping there again. but all in all did ok just took some time.  good luck to all.

I can’t believe your would stop shopping at Fred Meyer, who do not price match, over a simple little thing like razors or toilet bowl cleaner.  Sale ads are specific per store and you can’t have your own way on everything.  How many razors and toilet bowl cleaner do you need in at one time anyway.

      • had the lady that i spoke to at fred meyers been as nice as the one at target i would not have said a  word about it. she acted like it was coming out of her pocket.  that was the only reason i said any thing. they people at target were as sweet as can be to me. i do appercate what fred meyers did as i was getting them for my kids houses. but come on not like the extra money was coming out of her bank account.  just my thoughts on the matter.

    • I just went to Caldwell Walmart and they would not let me price match because I didnt have the coupon that it says in the add….oh I am so mad!!!!I just wish that the Walmarts would all be on the same page I am making Christmas baskets for my family and this would of been perfect!!!!

      • The coupon from FM is a manufactured coupon…they shouldn’t have price matched for the first lady either! I imagine that was a huge over sight by the cashier!!!

        • I agree with all these statements above. Who does need those many things at once? That’s pretty much why no one else gets anything, because someone has the time and energy clear shelves. Fred Meyer did pretty good just to price match, they’ve never done that for me. I don’t know why there would ever be a complaint. And yes, Walmart should not have price matched, you need that $4/1 coupon and the ad so they could price match the price before coupon then scan the coupon. I will shop at Fred Meyers forever, they have such good customer service and I love their playplace.

  11. oh by the way get to know your managers at your walmart. if you get on a first name basics you will get on better i have found.i go to the one on state and glennwood in boise.. they dont always have the things in stock but when they do. they are really good about making it right for you .. i talk to josh and justin a lot and now eric is a good person to talk to as well. just a thought.

    • I *heart* Josh at the State/Glenwood store.  :-)

    • Must say….I LOVE Eric too! Anytime I shop there I look to see if he is checking….especially when using doublers. He is fast, always happy, and has NEVER messed up anything! I hope Walmart gives him a raise he deserves it.

  12. Just got back from Walmart on Glenwood/State.  First of all the Scrubbing Bubble rang up at 3.97 and they had a bunch of them.I had the add with me and the checker said no problem but when he rang it up it automaticly rang up for 3.97.  Second, anyone know if I was overcharged on my receipt if it is possible to go back to get it corrected?  I was charged for an extra item and they did not ring up 3 of my coupons.  I ended up being overcharged by around $6.  hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm                                                                 Oh…..they also have some ugly Cover Girl eyeshadow that is 3.14 or makeup sponges for 2.94 that works for the $8/2 coupon.  Don’t really need the eye shadow but the overage is nice.

  13. For those that had issues with the Scrubbing bubbles starter kit it was a special promo box. The ones for $9.49 are in a solid green box while the sale ones have the yellow band down the right side. The 2 products carry different UPCs hence the confusion over this. Got to Walmart at midnight on Sat so I could get some and they were just filling an endcap with them. I couldn’t find them at first so I tracked down the night manager and he helped me out. When I asked how many I could buy he just said “how many do you want?” They just handed over 3 cases to me (6 per case). Would have gotten more if I had more coupons.

    • Thank you!! I am so sick of nobody reading the ad or the box!!  How hard is it to differentiate between the two? Not that hard. A lot of people had no trouble whatsoever finding them. I am sick of listening to people whine about this. Look at the boxes people and you will find the right ones!! Obviously if it’s ringing up at $9, you did not get the right one and DON’T expect Walmart to override it!! It’s called a STARTER KIT for a reason, the same exact thing that your COUPON says!! Geesh! Sorry if this was rude, but I don’t know how much more clearer it could be to some, it’s not really that hard!!

  14. Went to Fred Meyer today to use my $8 cover girl coupon because walmart was out of all of the blush and eye shadow that I thought we could use this for.  I picked out an eye shadow $4.49 and a blush $4.94 and the register would not except my coupon for these.  The manager came over and tried to “explain” that you are not allowed to use the coupon on blush or eye shadow that it was only for foundation–where does the coupon state that?  I am tired of Fred Meyers being so picky about the coupons and they are not even correct on what they are telling people.  I would not have tried to buy the blush and eye shadow with the coupon if it had stated it was for foundation only.  I left without purchasing anything.  I will go back to Walmart when they restock instead of fight with Fred Meyer about it.

    • Jessica Fab Frugal says:

Sorry for your frustration :( There has been quite a bit of debate as to which products the $8/2 Cover Girl coupon can/should be used on. I myself called Cover Girl and asked them to clarify the “face products” they are referring to on the coupon. I was told “face products” are; foundation, blush, powder, bronzer, concealer, and face tools. They said the coupon was not intended for “eye” or “lip” products. At the end of the day… the coupon wording should have been more specific to avoid this frustration all together!

  15. Thanks for everything on this blog!!

Sooo. I just had to share the best Wal Mart shopping trip I have had so far!

Tidy Cat litter     1.97, (2) Ocello sponges at .97 each, Veg oil at 2.92 (because I needed it), (4) schick disposable razors at 1.97 each, 2 rayovak flashlights at 1.00 each, (2) scrubbing bubbles one step kits (they price matched to their own ad, shelf said 9.97), (3) nivea lip gloss (pricematch to safeway) 1.00. Total before coupons was 27.67

Now coupons I used (2) $6/2 schick disposible, (3) $1.50/1 Nivea lip products from tearpad at FM, (2) $4/1 Scurbbing bubbles, (1) $1/1 tidy cat litter and (2) $1/1 rayovak flashlights
    OOP ======== $0.17    =]]]]]]]

    • Good job,  but again I will state, you did not get the correct Scrubbing bubbles. They cashier should not have overridden it for you. The ad clearly states that it is for the “starter” kits which are smaller and don’t have the regular. The coupon also states “starter” kit. Walmart will not get reimbursed for this as the correct product was not purchased.

But, good job on the rest!

      • Not true.  I emailed the company because everyone was having such a hard time with the coupons and prices.  They said that if the box contains the kit (refill and machine), then it doesn’t matter what the packaging looks like or if it says ‘refill with free starter kit’ or ‘starter kit with free refill’.  The coupons should work for any of them because the coupons if for the starter kit.  I did the deal at Target after price matching the Walmart ad.  I paid $2.99 plus tax for one starter kit w/refill and two individual refills.  I used one $4/1 starter kit, 1 BOGO refill from previous starter kit purchase, (in the box), plus 1 Target coupon $1/2 refills.  Plus I got $5 gift card for purchasing the starter kit and a refill.  I did a total of 6 deals, paid $17.94 + tax, got back $30 in gift cards. :)

        • Yeah, they regular price on the scrubbing bubbles was $9.97. I almost fell over when I got my four (in two trips so I didn’t clear shelves) and realized i was paying $0.53 for something that retailed almost $40!

Thank you for not clearing shelves too!
