Last Minute (and SUPER Frugal) Teacher Appreciation Gift Idea!

Another advantage to having a stockpile? You can use it for last second gift ideas like FruGAL Angela did:

“I was so busy that I forgot that today was Teacher Appreciation Day. So I was thinking this morning what would the great teachers of my children need and find useful….. this is what I came up with and wanted to share. The All Laundry soap was from my food storage bought last week during Albertsons All/Snuggle Deal.”

Super cute and super frugal idea! Thanks for sharing Angela!

Teacher Appreciation {Washi Tape Clipboard}

Today’s teacher appreciation gift is quick and easy to make. It took me about 10 minutes to put together and cost under $3!

washi tape clip

Here is what you need:

need for clipboard

Mini clipboard {I found mine at Wal-Mart for $1.12}

  Washi Tape {I got mine at Target it was $4 for the 4 pack, you can find it at most craft stores or online}

Ribbon {I forgot to include it in the picture, I used my stash}

     A cute print {I downloaded mine here, the ladies at eighteen25 did a great job on this one, I just added my kids’ teachers names to the top and printed out a 5X7 at home}

washi tape

Target had all kinds of colors of this Washi tape. I will be going back to get more! I think this is probably the best price unless you have a coupon to use at one of the craft stores. It is in the office supply section at Target.

tape on

Just start by rolling out the tape and sticking it to the clip board. At first I cut off the extra on the ends, then I decided I liked how it looked folded over and stuck to the back. Just do what you like.

When you get to the clip part, just put the tape over it, the run the edge of your scissors along the metal part of the clipboard and remove the tape. {ignore my yucky kids scissors, they were the most handy}

This is when I decided it needed some ribbon on it.

So just tie a variety of colors of ribbon to the clip a the top with a square knot {right over left, left over right}.

ribbon

Now it is ready to give to those hard working teachers!

DIY Teacher Appreciation {White Chocolate Popcorn Tutorial}

DIY Teacher Appreciation {White Chocolate Popcorn Tutorial}

Teacher Appreciation is this week so I am going to share with you a couple of fun and frugal gifts to show those hardworking teachers how much we appreciate them. Before I had kids I taught kindergarten and always got interesting gifts. The ones I LOVED were the ones that I could use in my classroom, gift cards, edible or practical gifts.

I have 3 kids in school so I can’t afford to spend a lot on the teachers, but I like to do things for them so they know that I am grateful for how hard they work.  I make this white chocolate popcorn a lot. I love it because it is quick and easy and tastes so good and makes a ton. I made some for the teachers for Christmas and they loved it. I found these cute containers in the $1 spot at Target and knew they would be perfect for the teachers. I used my Silhouette {have I convinced you to get one yet?} to cut out some cute decorations to put on the plastic boxes. They are perfect for holding pencils, markers or pens. I made a fun tag to go with the gift. You can download your own copy of the tags to print at home here.

Here is what you need to make the White Chocolate Popcorn:

need

2 bags microwave popcorn

2 cups M&M’s

1 package of Almond bark

Sprinkles

3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

pop

Pop your popcorn and pour it into a bowl. Transfer it to another bowl so you can discard the unpopped kernels. You don’t want these to ruin your yummy popcorn!

unpopped

Next melt your almond bark. I always melt mine in the microwave. I follow the directions on the package.

melted

Put your popcorn in your largest bowl and pour the melted almond bark over the popcorn. Stir it as best you can. I usually use 2 big spoons to kind of toss it around to get all the popcorn coated.

pour

Add 2 cups of M&M’s and toss it a little more

mm

Spread it onto a wax paper lined cookie sheet. The wax paper makes it easier to transfer to bags later.

cooke sheet

Sprinkle sprinkles all over the top before it cools.

sprinkles

It is okay to sneek a few bites. Next melt your 3/4 cup of chocolate chips. Be careful not

to burn them

choco

I just use the spoon to shake it around the popcorn

spoon

Put it all over, it makes it so yummy! Now let it cool and set. I usually stick mine in the fridge because I am impatient.

choc pop

After it is cooled and set, put it in bags. I love cello bags, you can find in the party section at most stores. Print and cut out your tags and attach them with a cute ribbon.
