Money Saving Tips: Taking a Summer Vacation?

Vacations can be expensive, but don’t have to be!

Here are a few quick tips for saving money during your summer travels:

Plan ahead - Now is the time to start hunting for the cheapest flights and other deals. Flight prices change daily, so keep your eye out. Find out the best time to fly. Use discount sites to find cheap flights. Here are our favorite travel links.

Set a budget and stick to it - Make it realistic.  Plan for activities, food, possible souvenirs, and other travel costs. Remember if you don’t have the money, don’t spend it.

Stay with friends or family - It’s a great way to make lasting memories with people you are close to. Make them breakfast or another special meal as a thank-you and make sure to leave their place cleaner than you found it :) If you do not have the friends and family option get a hotel discount!

Pack lunches - If it’s a road trip, bring sandwich fixings and other non-perishable snacks from home. If you go by plane, head to the grocery store and buy ingredients for simple on-the-go meals.

Eating out - Consider eating out for breakfast or lunch because you will get the same types of yummy dinner food for much less. Order takeout and have a picnic; This saves you paying 20% more for a tip. Plan ahead with discount restaurant coupons.

Don’t stress-out -  A vacation is supposed to be relaxing and planning it should be exciting.

And remember, have fun!

Money Saving Tips: Pay Yourself First

Are you looking for some simple ideas to save money? We have simple solutions that you can easily apply to your lifestyle to save money!

This is an effortless way to save a lot of money.

There’s just one simple step:

Every time you get a paycheck, “pay yourself first”.

Before spending any money, try taking 10% of the your paycheck and put it in a savings account, or more preferably, an investment such as a Roth IRA where it can grow itself.

If 10% seems overwhelming with all of the other bills you have to pay, start saving 5% per paycheck.

When you can manage saving 5%, move up to %10 or even 20%.

By being constant with your money saving, you’ll end up saving a lot over time.

The important thing is that you’re consistently saving something each time you make money!

good luck.

Money Saving Tip: Dishwasher Savings

Are you looking for some simple ideas to save money? We have simple solutions that you can easily apply to your lifestyle to save money!

Here are a few ways to save a little extra when it comes to the dishwasher:

1. Only run a full dishwasher.

2. Try using half the amount of dish detergent that the dishwasher calls for.  I do this and my dishes still come out squeaky clean.  That means your dish detergent will last twice as long!

3. If your dishwasher gives you the option, turn off the dry cycle and let the dishes air dry.

4. Load the dishwasher carefully so you can maximize space and still get everything clean.

5. Use a homemade dishwasher detergent.  We have a tried and true recipe for it!

What do you do to save at the dishwasher?

Albertsons Round Up Deals

Keep checking back for more updates on this post!

Coupon Round Up is Back!

It’s been nearly a year since we’ve seen the “round up” event at Albertsons! This time, it will last the full 7 days! Basically, any coupon valued at $.25 – $.99 will be equal to $1.00 (or “round up” to $1.00. There is no limit to the # of coupons you can round up. A few things to note about round ups – If the price of an item is less than a dollar, the “rounded up” manufacturer coupon will be adjusted to match the current sales price of the item. For example, if an item is $.80 and you have a coupon that is $.50, the coupon will match the sales price of 80 cents instead of being rounded up to the full dollar. ALSO: For this event sales are limited to stock on hand and Albertsons will not be offering rainchecks. Last time we had round ups, we were able to score some pretty decent deals! Anyone else remember getting super cheap Bounty Paper Towels?
