DIY Fridge Magnet Cups {Picture Tutorial}

Having all 4 kids home all day we go through lots of cups. It drives me crazy! I’ve tried a few different things to take care of the “cup problem” but nothing has worked…until I saw this idea on Pinterest. I finally got everything gathered this week to make them and it has been awesome, and the kids LOVE them!

Here is what you need:

Round Magnets{I got mine at wal-mart you can find them here}

Cups{I got mine at Target on clearance for $.50}

E6000 Glue

Vinyl Letters {I used my silhouette to cut mine out} or a Sharpie to write your letters

First I applied my vinyl letters to my cups. I cut the vinyl with my Silhouette in each of my kids favorite colors. I didn’t bother with transfer tape since it was one big letter and easy to place on the cup. I used “outdoor grade” vinyl so I can put the cups in the dishwasher. You just have to let the vinyl “cure” for a  few days before you run it through your dishwasher. You could also use a Sharpie to write your kids names on their cups or get different colored cups.

Don’t they look cute?! I used the acknowledgement font for the boys’ cups and can’t remember what I used for the girls’ cups. Sorry!!

Next put some E6000 glue on the back of the magnets. I used this glue because it is permanent and I wanted to be able to put the cups in the dishwasher. If you like hand washing your dishes, you can use a hot glue gun.DSC_3860

Place the magnet on the back of your cup. I held it in place for about a minute to make sure the glue was set with the magnet in the right place.

I let them dry for about an hour before I stuck them on my fridge. {I think I need to clean my fridge, it looks a little dirty!}

My kids were so excited to use them and it has cut down on cup usage so we have a happy mom and happy kids, for just a few dollars!
