Money Saving Tips: Ripen Hard Avocados

Are you looking for some simple ideas to save money? We have simple solutions that you can easily apply to your lifestyle to save money!

Have you ever noticed that almost every time you find avocados on sale at the store they are rock hard?

You know they’ll eventually ripen so you don’t mind picking up a few, but wouldn’t it be nice to use them right away?

Here’s a trick to quickly ripen your avocados so you don’t have to wait so long before you can eat them.  The good thing is you can ripen as many or as little as you want at a time!

Just place your avocados in a brown paper bag [get one at the store when you buy them] with a banana, fold the bag over, and check it in a day to see how soft the avocados have gotten.

After being picked, bananas and other plants give off a gas called ethylene.  The bag traps the gas and that’s causes the avocados to ripen fast!

Money Saving Tips: Deseeding a Watermelon

Are you looking for some simple ideas to save money? We have simple solutions that you can easily apply to your lifestyle to save money!

Many times, seeded watermelons are cheaper than seedless, but if you hate biting into a piece of watermelon and crunching on seeds, try deseeding the melon before cutting it up.

Here’s how:

Cut your watermelon in half.

Then cut the melon along the seed lines.

All watermelons have their seed veins in a straight line, so once you find where the veins lie, you just have to cut along the line of seeds and that makes the seeds easy to get out.

enjoy.
