These work as well as the Layla Magneffect polishes, but are so much less expensive, and the China Glaze magnet is easier to use. Magnetic nail polishes are a little difficult to use at first, but you quickly get the hang of it. Just make sure not to put the magnet too close to the polish or it will lift up onto the magnet. I definitely recommend these polishes!

Keep in mind, prices on Amazon are subject to change without notice. So if you want to lock in this price, HURRY!!!

The BEST Soap Scum Remover {DIY Picture Tutorial}

Monica saw this on pinterest and asked me to try it out and let y’all know how I liked it. It is similar to the Tub/Shower cleaner but you don’t use as much soap. I had everything on hand so I made up a batch.

Here’s what you need:

{PIN THIS}

1 cup white vinegar

1 tbsp. cornstarch

2 tbsp. dish soap

Spray bottle

soap scum remover-2

Add 1 tbsp of cornstarch to 1 cup of white vinegar. {Don’t add more cornstarch, the first time I made it I thought I was supposed to add 3 tbsp, it was so thick it wouldn’t even go down the funnel, much less spray from the spray bottle!}

soap scum remover-1-2

stir to combine, I used a fork

soap scum remover-5

You can tell it is already thickening up a bit.

soap scum remover-3

Microwave for 2 minutes

soap scum remover-1-3

Add 2 tbsp. of dish soap to your spray bottle. As you all know I prefer blue dawn, I think it is the best, but use what you have on hand.

soap scum remover-6

Take the vinegar/cornstarch mixture out of the microwave and stir a few times. It is more gel like.

soap scum remover-7

Add it to the spray bottle and shake gently to combine.

soap scum remover-4

I decided to try it on my dirty bathroom sink. Looks gross I know

soap scum remover-9

I sprayed {but forgot to take a picture, my 2 year old was trying to help} I let it sit for about 10 minutes then wiped it with a damp washcloth. Everything came right off an it looked nice and shiny.

soap scum remover-10

{PIN THIS}

There weren’t a lot of suds to deal with either {like with the tub/shower cleaner}. I also cleaned my glass shower doors. I have a hard time getting them clean and shiny and getting the water spots off. I sprayed them down then left them for about an hour. I came back and wiped them down with a wet washcloth. I think next time I will only leave them for the most 30 minutes. The cleaner had dried on a bit and I had to apply more elbow grease than I did with the sink. I dumped water on them to rinse after I wiped them and they looked great. {I couldn’t get a good picture of my glass doors so you will just have to trust me.} I liked this cleaner a LOT. I also tried it on my kitchen sink and it was nice and shiny after I wiped it down. I loved that it was just 3 ingredients that I always have on hand. {Are you buying vinegar by the gallon yet? It is the only way to go!! If you haven’t noticed it is in most homemade cleaner recipes.}

How to Make Baby Headbands {Satin and Felt Flowers}

I love to make baby headbands. Before I had my little girl I made a TON of headbands. One night my husband asked me to count how many I had made for our unborn baby.. I told him there weren’t that many. After I was still counting I had a total of 45! I have made many more since, Im sure she has over 75. I love making them; in fact, I use to sell what I made at a local boutique shop. Its my passion! They are so fun to make, I get to use my creativity. Lately I have had a lot of people ask me where I have bought my headbands. I quickly tell them I make all of them, so I decided to make a tutorial for two of my favorite headbands so you all can make your own for a few dollars a piece! (These types of headbands sell anywhere from $5.00-$15.00 + shipping on etsy)

Felt Flower Headband:

{Supplies}

  • Felt ($.20 at Walmart-found in the kids craft section)
  • Stretchy elastic (most local craft stores carry stretchy elastic. Etsy is also a good place if you want unique elastic usually. Some are $1.50-$2.00 for 5 yards. I buy a few different kinds and then I have plenty of elastic when I need to make more headbands to fit my babes growing head)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Pen

First begin by making tracing a circle (I use the bottom of an ibuprofen bottle-its the perfect size). You will want to make 7 circle all the same size, cut them out

DIY Baby Gift { Mom/Baby Towel }

I received a neat gift shortly after having my baby a few months back. It is a towel with ribbon sewn on one end, so when you are getting the baby out of the tub to dry them off you have a towel handy and ready to go. I love the towel! I use it every night after bath time so I decided to make one myself. It is SO easy!

{Pin This}

HOW TO USE IT: Simply tie the ribbon around your neck and let the towel hang length wise. After you are done bathing your baby, simply pick them up and put them against your chest and grab the bottom part of the towel and bring it up so it covers the back side of the baby. When you are ready to put your baby down to dry and dress simply un-tie the ribbon and set your baby on the changing table

{Supplies}

-Full size towel {Towel’s on Amazon}
-Thread
-Ribbon
-Sewing needle
-measuring tape or ruler

First, I measured my ribbon at 29″ and cut two pieces. Then, I burned the edges lightly with a lighter so they won’t frey in the wash

Begin by measure 9″ from the outside edge of the towel (you will want to sew the ribbon on the short end of the towel-where the binding is). Mark with a pen and place the ribbon in the middle of your mark

Begin sewing your ribbon on. I stitched back and forth 5 times over the entire ribbon before knotting and starting on the other side (if you have a machine, this will take a few seconds to sew both sides-I wanted to demonstrate without so everyone could make this craft, even without a machine.)

Before I started using this towel, before getting my baby out of the tub I would lay a towel on the bathroom floor. Once she was all clean and ready to get out I would lay her on the towel on the floor. With this awesome towel, I can now get her right out of the tub with the towel tide around my neck and immediately wrap her up in it to get her dry and warm. Much better then laying her on the cold bathroom floor. After I get her to her room and put her on the changing table all I need to do is un-tie the ribbons and set her down. While we are dressing her the ribbons usually keep her occupied… even better!

such a frugal and handy baby gift to give and get!

Easy Homemade Strawberry Lemonade Recipe

How to make Homemade Strawberry Lemonade…

My sister shared this recipe she found with me on Memorial Day and we LOVED it!  I thought you’d like it too!

Easy Homemade Strawberry Lemonade Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of strawberries
  • 1 cup lemon juice (you can do fresh squeezed or just buy the bottle at the store – shake it good first!)
  • 1 cup sugar (add a little more if you want it sweeter)
  • 5 cups of water (I like to add ice to make 5 cups so the lemonade is nice and cold)

Instructions

Blend lemon juice, sugar, only 1 cup of the water, and strawberries until desired consistency.

In a separate pitcher, add the remaining 4 cups of water with mixture.

Enjoy!

http://fabulesslyfrugal.com/2012/06/easy-homemade-strawberry-lemonade-recipe.html

Put the lemon juice, sugar, and ONLY 1cup of ice water in your blender, then add the 2 cups of whole strawberries.

You can blend it until the strawberries reach a chunky stage or blend longer until they are more pureed.

Put the concentrate in a pitcher and then add the remaining 4 cups of chilled water.

Then all that is left is to ENJOY the delicious strawberry lemonade!

Here’s how to freeze just the concentrate:

Easy Homemade Strawberry Lemonade Concentrate {For Freezing}

  • 2 cups of strawberries (1 pound pureed)
  • 1 cup lemon juice (you can do fresh squeezed or just buy the bottle at the store – shake it good first!)
  • 1 cup sugar (add a little more if you want it sweeter)

Instructions

Blend and then pour into a quart sized freezer bag and freeze! When you’re ready to use it, thaw and add 5 cups of chilled water and stir (I even like to blend it frozen for a slushy drink)! Or for a tasty treat, add 1 liter of Sprite to the concentrate!

Burlap Growth Chart

{Pin This}

{Supplies}

-Burlap (.99 a yard at Hobby Lobby) {Burlap on Amazon}
-Permanent marker
-Number stencil (4.99 at Hobby Lobby) {Stencil Numbers on Amazon}
-Line stencil (6.99 at Hobby Lobby)
-Measuring tape or ruler

When I fist joined pinterest I saw the cutest growth chart, but was more than I wanted to spent. I kept it in the back of my mind and later came across this chart, I fell in love! I was on the hunt for some burlap just like the blogger used; however, I had no luck, until last week! I went to Hobby Lobby to get some craft supplies and there is was just staring at me! I shrieked and grabbed the whole spool of burlap. I quickly looked at the price, .99!! even better! I bought a few yards and decided I could now make my own chart for a few dollars (it is found in the section where piping is found-also near the reupholstering fabrics). I picked up some templates in the scrapbook section.

I started out by laying my sewing ruler next to my burlap, since the burlap was on a spool it wouldn’t lay flat so I taped it to my counter. Next to it I also taped my measuring tape

I marked every foot first with a large mark

I used the larger numbers for the foot marks

I simply placed the template on the burlap and took my marker and filled in the numbers on my burlap

I fell in love with it even more when I could see all the cute numbers! Next, I marked every inch. I used a smaller mark

My little girl is really little so when I start measuring her (I will begin when she is 1) I will use these cute safety pins I found at Micahels for $3.99 to mark on a little tag. Ill put her initials, date and age

To hook this on my wall I took a small nail at nailed it to the top and bottom of the chart. It is so small that I can just set the burlap right on it and it sinks through, because my baseboard are high when I measure my kids ill have to have a lower nail to hook the chart onto to drop it to the floor and get an accurate measurement

I am excited to have this full when my kids are grown up. Such a cute memory to have and the best part is that I can take it with me when and if we ever move

DIY Flower Clips {Picture Tutorial}

I have 2 girls and they both love to wear bows in their hair. I LOVE to put fun accessories in their hair and am always looking for something fun, new and inexpensive to make! I am not a good bow maker (so I usually buy those), but I figured out how to make flower hair clips a few years ago. It is a quick, inexpensive gift to make for a baby shower; or if you are missing the perfect accessory for your little girl’s outfit. Here is what you need to make these cute flower clips.

flower-1

Silk Flowers-I always buy them when they are on sale. I got mine from Michael’s when they were buy one get one free so they were $1 each {see if there are any you like on Amazon}

Hair Clips-They are cheapest at Sally’s I got a box of 100 for about $4 {it was a few years ago that I got the box so I can’t remember exactly how much they were, there are also some on Amazon}

Flat rhinestones-Michael’s {30 for $3 – or find some on Rhinsstones on Amazon)

Brads {one for each flower} {find some Brads on Amazon}

Glue gun {find a glue gun on Amazon}

Wire cutters {find wire cutters on Amazon}

flower-2

First you pull of the stem then place the wire cutters between the green part and the flower and cut the stem. Be careful not to cut the flower!

flower-3

Pull off the yellow part on the front of the flower

flower-4

Place a brad in the front of the flower through the hole

flower-5

Fasten the brad down in the back

DIY Cleaning Wipes

With 4 little kids at home I go through cleaning wipes like crazy! I love them for quick wipe downs of the bathrooms or to give the kids to clean the table for dinner. On the local morning news I saw someone make their own and thought, I can do that! I modified their recipe a bit to work for me. Here is what you need to make your own cleaning wipes:

{PIN THIS}

need

Paper Towels of  good quality. I buy the Sam’s club ones, they are about as good as Bounty

1 cup of vinegar

1 cup of water

essential oil

A few drops of dish soap

Container to store the wipes (could use an old wipes container) I picked up this set the last time I was at Ikea. It cost $3.99 and had the perfect container for the wipes.

knife

Make sure your paper towels will fit in the container. A full roll would not fit in any of the containers I had, so I used a partial roll. I used my serrated knife to cut the paper towels. I would cut and then rotate the towels and cut again.towels

Here they are cut in half

cut half

I just add the ingredients right to my container, 1 cup of water and 1 cup of vinegar

water

I added some essential oil to cut back on the vinegar smell, it was pretty strong.

oil

A few drops of dish soap, then gently mix it up.

dawn

Remove the cardboard part of the paper towels. I was able to wiggle it around a bit to loosen it then pull it out.

tube

Put the paper towels in and turn the container upside down so all the wipes can get nice and wet. Make sure the lid is on tight, mine wasn’t and I had a little leakage.

upside down

Once the wipes are thoroughly wet they are ready to be used.

diy wipes

{PIN THIS}

I have been using them all week. and found they work  best when pulled from the center. They are pretty wet so I usually have to squeeze some of the moisture out. I used the “select-a-size” paper towels, I think I would use regular ones next time so I have a bigger wipe.  Other than that I like them a lot. I feel better about giving them to my kids to clean because I know exactly what is in them.
