SavingStar Update!

Do you remember the SavingStar: New eCoupon Service! post?

Have you tried it? What did you think? I don’t know about you, but I was pretty skeptical. I mean, YES, the FruGal’s check out deals like this before they post them, so I knew it was legit, but it couldn’t really be as easy as they said right? Well, you be the judge! Click here to sign up online… When you see this page, click where it says “Join For Free!

That will bring you to this page, where you can either sign up with your email, or connect with your Facebook credentials.
After you sign up, you will be taken to a page that looks like this: Enter your zip code, and it will pull up all of the “Loyalty Card” programs it’s affiliated with in your area. Mine looked like this: This step by far took the longest amount of time. But be extra sure you enter the numbers right, or you won’t activate the savings when you swipe your card. Then you get this screen: Once you have the directions down, click the “Got It! Select eCoupons” button. Then you will see all of the offered coupons… When you find one you like click where it says “I Want This!” It takes a second or two, but then it will look like this (you can click on more than one, it’ll catch up!) After it’s activated, you can either email or print the list… I checked that the coupon I wanted was listed… I love that it shows you the “fine print” of the coupons!! I almost bought the wrong diapers! Then I checked out (using my paper coupons!!) (Click here to see how I did the diaper deal). And I paid $8.28 for the diapers and the wipes (ignore my eggs and stamps :)) on Monday, June 6th. When I got home I logged into my SavingStar account, and saw this: So, I looked up in the “How It Works” to see how long it would take to post. They said between 2 and 30 days. I didn’t mind… $8.28 for a pack of diapers and wipes is a great deal!

I threw in some free Desitin and Johnson’s Baby Wash I got at Rite Aid in Feburary, a swaddle I won off a Facebook promotion, a pair of jammies I picked up for a $1 on clearance a while back , a BeechNut Starter Kit (HERE), a FREE box of Emerald Breakfast on the Go for the busy momma, (here), and I have about a $65 Baby Shower gift, that I spent less than $10 on :)… That is pretty FabuLESS and Frugal!!

Then on July 8th, I checked my account, a low and behold:

The $3 coupon had posted to my account!!!  Bringing my cost for the baby shower to a grand total of less than $7!

Long story short.  Does it work? Yes!  Does it take “Forever”? Yes!  Did I do a little happy dance when I logged on for the 20th or so time and saw that $3 sitting in my account? Yes!!  And truthfully, it doesn’t take forever, it just seemed like it did because I was checking the account everyday so I could post this for you.  It takes less time than a mail in rebate, and if you just add your coupons at the beginning of the month, print your list and forget about it, you’ll have a nice little surprise when you go to add the next month’s coupons.

Still reading huh?  Well, maybe this will convince you…

  1. Danielle says:

Are these exclusive coupons you can only find on savingstar?

  2. I am sorry if this has been asked before but.. Does this program allow you to use a MC coupon with the Ecoupon? Or is it either or?…

    • Yep! It does! That’s what I did!
My total before MC was $11.78… Then I used $3.50 in MC bringing it to $8.28, then my saving star came off about a month later, for $3 more dollars!!! So a package of diapers and wipes for $5.28!

  3. I tried it Albertson’s when you first posted about this site and went to try it on an item and it didn’t work for me. I haven’t tried it since. The only other store I have in m area with a card is fred Meyers

    • Have you checked your saving star account? It seriously took 32 days for the $3 to post to my account. It is NOT an instant savings, but rather one that you receive back later, like an ebates or shop at home :)

    • Hi Ivy – This is Josh from SavingStar. Savings can take between 7-30 days to post depending on the store you shop. Currently Fred Meyer posts at 30 days, Albertson’s usually posts within 17 days. If it’s been more than 30 days, please email us at support@savingstar.com so we can make sure you get your savings! Thanks, Josh

  4. I signed up a couple weeks ago. It seems great but I have been hesitant to try it since I wanted to be sure I could use MF coupons also. So I’m assuming based in this that they let you use both?? I’m excited to try it!!

  5. Just for clarifiction, can you use e-coupons with MF coupons?

  6. I had the same question so i went to their Facebook page. Here is what i found in response to the question about using a MF coupon on the same item:

SavingStar: SavingStar eCoupons will work whether or not you combine them with other services’ coupons, but they are not intended to be used this way. Manufacturers typically have policies limiting use to 1 coupon per purchase, but it is up to each shopper to follow these policies. Using “store” coupons are not a problem. Hope that helps! -Josh

  7. When it first came out I bought Glad storage containers from Albertsons. The savings posted immediately.

A few weeks ago I bought a California Pizza Kitchen and DiGiornio pizzas from Fred Meyers and so far only the DiGiornio posted. It took a couple weeks to post.

The thing I don’t like about saving star is you only get the savings for one item. Also, it doesn’t remove the coupon once you have used it so it is up to you to remember.

    • oops….nothing has posted from Fred Meyer.

I also got savings at Albertsons I wasn’t expecting. I believe it was from detergent that rang up at the wrong price (bigger size) that I ended up getting free since it rang up wrong. So there must be about a 1-week delay on Albertsons savings.

  8. ok…so apparently you can see which coupons have been redeemed on their website, just not on the iphone app, which is what I normally use.

It shows I redeemed the coupon for Glad, but it doesn’t show any other coupons redeemed. The website says if it has been more than 30 days you can contact them.

  9. Autumn Avila says:

it says they can be combined with paper coupons. has anyone tried

  10. Christie says:

Hi, thanks for the reassurance that this site is legit. I had loaded some and used them and then was pretty much horrified when I didn’t see the savings WITHIN 7 days, but I guess I just need to be patient. :D

  11. So after these savings post to your account, what do you do with them?? Is it like single check rebates at Rite Aid? They send you $ via a check in the mail? Or do you use it to buy products online?

    • Hi Cathy, You get to pick your payout from SavingStar with the following choices: A deposit to your bank account or PayPal account, an Amazon gift card, of a donation to the American Forests charity. We’ll be adding more choices in the coming months. Thanks, Josh from SavingStar

  12. This looks like a great system. I have a question about a scenario that may not come up too often, but I’m wondering the answer, just the same: Will the SavingStar coupons work on an item that is clearance-priced to below the coupon value? Let’s say for example I find a tube of Krazy Glue in the clearance bin at my Albertsons store for $.49, and the SavingStar coupon for Krazy Glue I have is $.50 –Will it still work?
