Vacations can be expensive, but don’t have to be!

Here are a few quick tips for saving money during your summer travels:

Plan ahead – Now is the time to start hunting for the cheapest flights and other deals. Flight prices change daily, so keep your eye out. Find out the best time to fly. Use discount sites to find cheap flights. Here are our favorite travel links.

Set a budget and stick to it – Make it realistic.  Plan for activities, food, possible souvenirs, and other travel costs. Remember if you don’t have the money, don’t spend it.

Stay with friends or family – It’s a great way to make lasting memories with people you are close to. Make them breakfast or another special meal as a thank-you and make sure to leave their place cleaner than you found it :) If you do not have the friends and family option get a hotel discount!

Pack lunches – If it’s a road trip, bring sandwich fixings and other non-perishable snacks from home. If you go by plane, head to the grocery store and buy ingredients for simple on-the-go meals.

Eating out – Consider eating out for breakfast or lunch because you will get the same types of yummy dinner food for much less. Order takeout and have a picnic; This saves you paying 20% more for a tip. Plan ahead with discount restaurant coupons.

Don’t stress-out -  A vacation is supposed to be relaxing and planning it should be exciting.

And remember, have fun!
