Money Saving Tips: Change Your Own Oil

April 26, 2012 3 Comments | Disclosure

Are you looking for some simple ideas to save money? We have simple solutions that you can easily apply to your lifestyle to save money!

Save around $84 per year on oil changes!

In order to keep your car in proper working order, it’s important to change the oil about every 3,000 miles [if you use the regular or “conventional” quality oil].  This will save you money in the long-run.  Changing your car’s oil in a timely manner means you’ll change it about once every 3 months [depending on how much you drive].

The Average oil change costs around $39 for up to 5 quarts of oil.

You can buy 5 quarts of standard oil and a filter for around $18.

If you change the oil yourself, you can save around $21 each time your car needs a change.

That’s $84 per year you can be pocketing!

If you don’t know how to change the oil in your car, consider taking a class at a community college or having a “car savvy” friend teach you.  Learning to change your own oil is a life-long investment that will save you hundreds of dollars!
