I went to Albertsons this week to get my groceries with coupons! When shopping at Albertsons I use my $20 catalinas, from last week which saved me a lot of money on my grocery budget this month!

Becky: Feeding a family of 3.5

Monthly grocery budget: $200

Spending this week: $52.02
Savings this week: $0

Spending for November: $262.36
Savings for November: $547.95

Year to date spending: $2251.99
Year to date savings: $4373.32

My munchkin and I were sick all week, so we didn’t do any shopping. Finally on Friday I broke down and asked my hubs to run to the store for a couple of items. No coupons were used, and he came home with things not on the list, and he shopped at the “Store on the Way” instead of the cheap store a few extra miles away. Whoops. Oh well. November Budget BLOWN, but because we have been mostly on or under budget, I have $148.01 left of my yearly budget! I think we can totally make it!

  1. I guess my whole issue with this is that I rarely see produce coupons. I see them for bags of salad but never anything else. Also, I don’t see coupons for meat, poultry, pork, etc. I can get produce and meats on sale but there’s no way to get away with a $150 grocery bill with solely sale items. We try to eat basic foods, whether fresh or frozen. I like to see 5 ingredients at most on a label and I want to be able to pronounce all those ingredients. Although I might get a great deal on Kraft or store brand mac & cheese, I don’t want to feed my kids sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium phosphate and calcium phosphate or Yellows 5 & 6. So, I either make it from scratch or buy Annie’s. I think it’s great that you get such awesome deals for your family. But that just wouldn’t work for us.

  2. WOW!!! You have inspired me. I am going to try this out!!! Thanks so much

  3. We do the Dave Ramsey budget, so our money is set aside for groceries each month- in an envelope. I have never gone over budget since we started this method of budgeting our money. It is awesome and easy to track the amounts spent vs. what is left over in the monthly budget.

  4. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This challenge has really made me pay attention to how much we spend and how I buy groceries. I’m over budget for the year, but have spent less than in past years!

  5. Please do this for the new year! I have been couponing now for two years and really feel like I can stick with 200-250 a month, hopefully lower for the next. This monthly post has really helped. I would like to get in on the challege. The money in the envelope has been pondering in my mind, maybe I will give it a try. Also use up my 20 cats from gift cards, had to buy a new dishwasher, got a great deal plus 80.00 in free groceries! Yay!
