Ah it’s tax time. For some it’s a great time, for otheres, not so great. :)  Since you’ve gotta do it, you may as well get a deal on it!

I love doing my taxes online because I can save it and work on it a bit at a time.   Note, as with all online tax prep services, there is a fee for the state return, but the federal tax filing is free!  And H&R Block is a trusted name in the industry as well, so it’s just another great reason to file through them!

  • You can do it all online for free!
  • FREE expert advice
  • You don’t file until you’re satisfied… plus they GUARANTEE the largest return!

  1. “as with all online tax prep services … the federal tax filing is free.”

How is this so? I used Turbo Tax this year as I have for quite some time, and federal tax filing is not free. I’ve searched high and low to figure out how to avoid a filing fee, and all I find is blogs saying it’s free but no more information than that. I even inquired at Turbo Tax directly, and no, it is not free to file a federal tax return.

Also, you might want to let your readers that rebates are available through ebates and shopathome for at least some tax services. I went through ebates and will get 7.5% cash back on my Turbo Tax filing fees.

    • Susan, I know we’ve had many companies send us their offers to advertise. Here are more: http://fabulesslyfrugal.com/2013/01/ways-to-get-your-federal-taxes-filed-free.html

I’m certain this pertains to 1040ez filings. I am a procrastinator and won’t be doing mine for a bit still (got other things on my to-do list I need to handle first), so I haven’t been able to go through the process personally this year.

And since we talk about and promote Ebates all of the time, (see another promo this afternoon), I didn’t take the time to go find another link to send readers to Ebates as well. I’m glad you’re trained to get cash back Susan. :)

      Does this answer your concerns?

ps – We don’t promote ShopAtHome.

  2. Thanks for the response Cathy. Just after posting, I read on another site that only 1040EZ filings are free, which explains a lot.

I shop through both ebates and shopathome regularly for retail purchases, but I would not have thought to check there for tax filing services had I not seen it in an ad.
