Crock Pot and Freezer Meal with Chicken

freezer cooking

Cream Cheese Chicken is one of my favorite freezer meals because you can freeze it and then cook it up in the crock pot.

Cream Cheese Chicken

ONE FAMILY
4 chicken breasts
1 packet of dry zesty Italian seasoning
1 can of cream of chicken soup
8 oz of cream cheese
¼ cup of butter
½ cup of water
salt and pepper to taste

SIX FAMILIES

24 chicken breasts
6 packets dry zesty Italian seasoning
6 cans of cream of chicken soup
3 lbs of cream cheese
1 ½ cups of butter
3 c. water
salt & pepper to taste

TO PREPARE FOR FREEZING: Bag Chicken and butter and label. Place spice packet and soup in aside for pantry. Keep cream cheese in the fridge. You can freeze the spice packet with the chicken, but if  you do be sure to put it in a small sandwich bag along with the butter so they don’t get wet when the chicken thaws.

TO PREPARE AFTER FREEZING: Place frozen chicken in a crock pot. Melt butter and combine with seasoning and water. Pour over the chicken and cook on low for 5-6 hours. About 45 minutes before chicken is done combine soup and cream cheese heat on the stove and pour over chicken to heat for remaining 45 minutes. Serve over rice, noodles or potatoes. Note you can add broccoli or a mixed frozen veggie with the chicken.

  1. I just made this for our family and it was pretty tasty. I added saute mushrooms and green onions. Served over egg noodles. Tasty like beef stroganoff.

  2. This was really good!

  3. Wondering if anyone has a healthy clean version for the packet of dry zesty Italian seasoning?

  4. I was wondering why you can’t put the cream cheese and cream of chicken in the crockpot with the chicken? Seems easier, but I may be missing something.

    • I think the idea is to avoid overcooking the cream cheese. So you add it later. It might be okay to add it sooner. As long as your crockpot does not get too hot.

  5. Making this recipe this afternoon
