Fabuless Freezer Cooking: Cheesy Spinach Burgers

May 11, 2014 8 Comments | Disclosure

These gourmet cheesy spinach burgers are a favorite burger for family BBQ’s. So I am bringing this recipe up from our archives. It is so simple to make these for freezer cooking. You simply make the patties and freeze them. Then you can quickly cook them up on dinner night.  I like that I can sneak some spinach in these burgers and give my kids some extra vitamins.  I have been making these burgers for years and my children never complain about the green spinach inside because they taste sooooo good. I make them with cheddar cheese or mozzarella cheese. This week the Tillamook cheddar load is on sale at Fred Meyer so be sure to pick some up when you are out shopping this week.

Ingredients for Cheesy Spinach Gourmet Burgers

½ envelope Lipton recipe secrets onion soup mix

1 lb ground beef { Zaycon Beef Deals }

½ package (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry

½ c. shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (4 oz)

There are only 4 ingredients in my burger recipe. So they are quick and easy to make. Mix spinach, ground beef, cheese and onion soup mix together in a large bowl.

It is easiest to mix by hand, but you can mix with a spoon. If the raw meat is not your friend use gloves or get your super husband to mix the meat for you.

Form meat into patties and grill on a Indoor Grill or outdoor grill. If you would like to make extra and freeze some see our directions for freezer meal Cheesy Spinach Burgers.

  1. Just be sure your meat wasn’t previously frozen. Otherwise it’s safest to cook the patties and then refreeze them :)

    I guess you just squish all the ingredients together and the cheeze is mixed in as well? I think this would make a great recipe using ground chicken or turkey. The additional flavors would make the burger come alive! Also, it would keep the kiddies healthier. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Excellent recipe! I love getting my ground beef at Albertson’s especially. They mark their fresh ground down at the end of the day to $2.49. It’s usually the lower fat blends too.

    could you make into a meatloaf?
