You won’t find an easier, better ham recipe than this! Super simple, plus the ham ends up moist and delicious. Free up your oven and put that Crock-Pot to good use.

You only need a large slow cooker, a ham, some dark brown sugar, pineapple juice, and pure maple syrup.

Just rub the brown sugar onto the ham and pour on the maple and pineapple juice.

Cover and let it cook on low for about 4 or 5 hours. Basting the ham when there’s an hour left. Easy!

The ham ends up being flavorful and moist. Just toss out that glaze packet, and make your ham this way next time. Perfect for Easter or Christmas!

Slow Cooker Maple Ham



  1. Unwrap the ham and discard the glaze packet. Place the ham, flat-side down, in a 6-7 quart slow cooker. Rub the dark brown sugar on all sides of the ham. Then pour the maple syrup and pineapple juice over the ham.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours. An hour before serving, baste the ham with the juices. When cooking is done, remove carefully and let rest for 10 minutes before carving.


If the ham is too big for your slow cooker, you can put a piece of foil over the top of the ham. Then place a large piece of foil over the top of that and seal the foil around the slow cooker.

    I am cooking a 3 pound and a 4 pound spiral ham together in a crockpot and the last one I did, had barely any brown sugar and maple flavoring. I had used 2 cups of pineapple juice as directed and could only taste the pineapple flavoring. Would it be too dry if I left out the pineapple juice and never substituted any other liquid, just some extra brown sugar and 1/2 cup real maple syrup?

    I made it before and it was delicious with barely any notice of the pineapple juice so not sure if I used a lot less or what happened but it seemed like the 2 cups was way too much and it never browned up or tasted like brown sugar or maple syrup this time.

    Would about 4 hours work for 7 lbs (combined a small 3 pound spiral him and a small 4 pound spiral ham in the same crockpot. Since it is a spiral ham, I did not want it to dry out. I will be gone for the morning and we eat at 12:30 for lunch with company, so have to cook it from about 7 am until about 11:45 when I get home to put it on warm, do the potatoes, etc. It is sitting in the crockpot liner dish with lid on it, in the refrigerator with the brown sugar rubbed on it already and maple syrup poured over it already, so it will be cold when the inside container of the crockpot goes in the base of the crockpot. I did not add pineapple juice or any other liquid to it yet so was hopefully to not have to use any more but don’t want it to be dry. .

    • Hi, Cathy! Sorry for the delayed response. I haven’t personally tried any of these possibilities you are considering, so I really can’t say for sure. And I’m not sure why it would be different flavoring the times you have made it either! I am thinking that since the glaze packets that usually come with the ham, don’t require that much liquid to be added, I think you could reduce the liquid in this recipe and still be good. Good luck!
