DIY iPad Stand

ipadstandI hardly ever use an actual cookbook anymore. ร‚ Ever since pinterest I don’t find a need for them anymore. I was needing something to keep my iPad upright and off the counter so I could view it better when following a recipe.

I hit the thrift store for my supplies {a couple times} ๐Ÿ™‚

DSC_0001-004I found the cutting board and piece of wood in the kitchen section. Both pieces were on sale ๐Ÿ™‚ ya know, how you go in and certain color tag items are a % off!

I took the sander to it to kind of rough it up a bit. I then cleaned the dust off of it.

Here comes the fun part! ร‚ I was going to paint it but thought just for the heck of it… lets see what happens when I add some coconut oil to it! So I took some coconut oil and added it to the ledge piece to see how it looked. I loved how it make the natural color of the wood come out! I could of easily painted it or stained it but this way was the fastest way. I think it looks awesome!

DSC_0009-003I screwed in the ledge to the bottom and made a leg for the back. My hubby did help with the drilling!

Problem solved! It is now upright and off the counter!

WOOT WOOT!

All for $1.50

  • very cute. only $1.50? wow! You can also use the wooden piece from an old scrabble game.(that holds the tiles) I’m anxious to make one. Love your coconut oil idea.

  • I actually think it was less than a $1.50. The cutting board and ledge were both on “sale” so I think it was more like $1.10 ๐Ÿ™‚
I had a hard time finding the right size board and ledge piece, hunting for scrabble may have set me back a couple more months lol
I can’t wait to see how yours turns out!!!
