23 Easy Camping Recipes (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, and Snacks)

Cooking on a campfire

There’s something so refreshing about spending a weekend away from everything else and just enjoying nature. It’s such a great way to reset the mind.

That being said, it’s important to still fuel yourself with good food while you’re out there! You can technically live off of protein bars, oatmeal, and coffee, but you’ll have a LOT more fun with a belly full of delicious food.

And that’s why this roundup exists. Whether you’re planning your first camping trip ever or you’re an absolute veteran, there are always new recipes to learn and try while you’re roughing it in the wilderness!

Below, we’ve gathered our favorite camping recipes including breakfast ideas, lunches, dinners, desserts, AND snacks. Everything you’d ever need.

Recommended Camping Cooking Supplies

A lot of the recipes below can be done without any special tools or supplies, but the right gear always makes things easier! Here are a few things you might want to add to your arsenal if you want to expand your campsite cooking abilities:

There are of course other essentials, for example, you’ll need a knife and probably a cutting board, but there’s a good chance you already have those things covered! Now let’s get into the recipes…

Camping Breakfasts

If you’ve read our summer breakfast recipes roundup, you know we love breakfast! That doesn’t change when we’re out in the wilderness either. If anything, a good breakfast while camping is even more important, especially if you’re tackling a hike or doing other physically exhausting activities that day.

Needless to say, you’re not confined to cereal and other quick-fix breakfasts while camping! Check out the amazing recipes below to see what I mean…

1. Breakfast Burritos

If you’re looking for a campfire breakfast that will really fuel you up, you can’t go wrong with these breakfast burritos. They’re filled with egg, sausage, potatoes, cheese, and veggies of your choosing, and they’re super easy to cook over the campfire.

We recommend making them ahead of time, wrapping each burrito in heavy-duty foil, then refrigerating them until you’re ready to eat. To reheat, just toss the burritos on the hot coals of your fire! Reheating them this way gives them a nice and crispy outside. 🙂

2. Loaded Breakfast Biscuits

Plate of round breakfast biscuits

This is another recipe you can make ahead of time and store for your camping trip. When you’re ready to eat, just wrap them in foil and reheat over the fire or grill. These look soooo good.

3. French Toast

French toast is usually a luxury breakfast made exclusively at home, but you can make some pretty darn delicious french toast while you’re camping too! Just be careful cooking this at a campsite – the other campers might get jealous!

Keep in mind you will need a Camp Stove and a Cast Iron Skillet for this recipe.

4. Breakfast Sandwich

Cooked breakfast sandwich with perfectly runny egg yolk

A breakfast sandwich is another one of those perfect camping breakfast ideas. This recipe consists of an English muffin, leftover BBQ pulled pork (just reheat it!), egg, and cheddar cheese. Guaranteed to leave you full and satisfied. 🙂

5. Cinnamon Rollups

These bad boys double as a breakfast or a dessert, and you can cook them right over the campfire! Only three ingredients needed too.

For something easy and perfect for feeding a crowd, try this grilled cheesy casserole. It’s filled with tons of tasty, nutritious ingredients like eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, cheese, mushrooms, bell pepper, onions, and more!

Lunch Ideas

Sometimes lunch while you’re camping can be as simple as sandwiches and snacks, but if you want something with a bit more substance, try these ideas!

8. Grilled Taco Nachos

Foil packet taco nachos

This is the first of a few foil packet recipes you’ll see on this list of camping food ideas, and you’re going to love them all! They’re super convenient and easy to prepare and cook.

For these taco nachos, all you need to do is layer the ingredients, seal them up in foil, and then cook them over a grill or campfire! They’re nice and filling too with pork sausage, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and tortilla chips in there.

9. Foil Wrapped Potatoes

Cooked three cheese potatoes

Here’s the next of our foil wrapped recipes, and this one is a great little lunch idea or side dish to serve with dinner. Yummy cubed potatoes topped with cheese, bacon, and onion! So good!

10. Make-Ahead Biscuits

Buttery biscuit

This recipe was originally made for at-home ovens, but a commenter said they turned out great in his dutch oven! He used a 12-quart deep dutch oven, with 7 biscuits on the bottom and 20 on top. Cooked for 20 minutes, rotating every 5 minutes.

Note that the biscuits weren’t frozen, so that could affect cooking time. Either way, he said they turned out just like they did in his oven, which is great to hear! Simple biscuits are a perfect camping food.

11. Curly Dogs

Two curly dogs with mustard and ketchup

Cooking hot dogs over a campfire is a classic but you can step it up a notch with a bit of pre-made dough! Just wrap the hotdogs in the dough and then cook them for an extra filling, extra fun meal.

Camping Dinners

Ok, now we’re getting to the good stuff! After a long day of hiking, playing, or just straight up relaxing, a good dinner is a perfect way to wrap things up.

12. Dutch Oven Spaghetti

Dutch oven macaroni spaghetti

This is one of my go-to camping dinner recipes as it’s easy to prep, tastes great, and can feed a large crowd. If you’re camping with a small group though, it’s easy to adjust for that too! It’s a really versatile recipe.

13. Sprite Chicken

Sprite chicken in the dutch oven

This is another big dutch oven recipe that can be made to feed 10 or more people if needed. It’s like a feast in a pot! You get a bit of bacon, chicken, potatoes, carrots, onions, and cheese all in one dish. Talk about delicious!

14. Dutch Oven Pizza

Pepperoni pizza in the dutch oven

Making pizza in a dutch oven might seem overly difficult at first, but it’s actually really easy – and it turns out great! All you need for a delicious campfire pizza is some pizza dough, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and your favorite toppings.

I highly recommend trying this one if you have a Dutch Oven. Biting into homemade, freshly cooked pizza while you’re camping is an amazing feeling.

15. Sausage & Veggie Foil Packet Dinner

Sausage and veggie foil packs

This is like the ultimate foil packet dinner you guys!! I love that you can prepare several of these packets at once too. Each one is filled with sausage, potatoes, cabbage, onion, bell peppers, zucchini, squash, chicken, AND tomatoes. So many great, healthy ingredients!

16. Milk Can Stew

Insert full of camp food

This another one of our camping recipes that was originally made to feed a crowd, but it can be modified to serve fewer – or more – people too. It’s a super stew! You’ve got cabbage, onions, carrots, red potatoes, corn, and meat all in one.

Once everything is finished cooking in the liquid, just empty it all into a serving dish. Campers can then pick their favorite foods out of everything and enjoy.

Camping Desserts

Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about dessert! While you can simply roast some s’mores and be good to go, here are some other campfire dessert recipes you may want to add to your lineup:

17. Peach Cobbler

Plate of peach cobbler

Oh man, this recipe makes my mouth water. Delicious, buttery peach cobbler, made in the dutch oven! It’s surprisingly easy too – only four ingredients are needed so you can still pack nice and light.

What’s even cooler about this recipe is the versatility. If you don’t want a peach cobbler you can switch things up to make apple or cherry cobbler!

18. Chocolate Chip Cookies

Plate of chocolate chip cookies

We’re really busting out all the dutch oven secrets in this post! The trick to making cookies in the dutch oven is having more coals on top than on the bottom, so that the cookies don’t burn. Once you get the hang of it it’s pretty easy and you can enjoy freshly baked cookies as you camp.

Bonus idea: Make these campfire cookies and then sandwich a roasted marshmallow in-between two of them. Yum!

19. Campfire Eclairs

Also known as woof ’ems, campfire eclairs are simply roasted tubes of biscuit dough filled with whatever you like! I like to fill mine with vanilla pudding and whipped cream, and then top them with a bit of chocolate.

You could try filling them with jam, other types of pudding, homemade ice cream, chocolate, or even savory ingredients like sausage and eggs.

20. Popcorn Balls

This is one of those make-ahead camping recipes that you can either pack for the road, or pack as a snack to enjoy around the fire. Just store them at room temperature after you’ve made them and bust them out when you’re feeling like something sweet!

Camping Snacks

Although the camp recipes above will keep you nice and full most of the time, you’ll probably still want a snack here and there to keep you going until the next big meal. Here are a couple easy favorites:

21. Mountain Trail Bars

Trail bar

These are perfect for on-the-go snacking while you’re out in the woods. They’re super nutritious too. If you like oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter, you’ll like these bars.

22. Oatmeal Muffins

Oatmeal chocolate chip muffins

I’d typically make these as a to-go breakfast sort of deal, but they make for a good snack too. Each muffin has a good amount of fiber and just enough chocolate chips!

Since I like to make these quite small, they’re super easy to take on the go too. You might want to keep them in a hard Tupperware container though to keep them from getting squished.

23. Peanut Butter Oat Bars

If you’re looking for a REALLY easy recipe, try these no-bake peanut butter oat bars. Only three ingredients are needed and it only takes around 20 minutes to prepare a big batch of bars.
