This year I’ve heard a few people talk about doing a Pie Bar on Thanksgiving Eve. Although it is a new idea to me, apparently it is a tradition for many!
Have you heard of it? The idea is that we all love pie, but we are often too stuffed from the Thanksgiving meal to really enjoy the dessert spread afterward.
A solution? Feast on pie the night before! Invite family and/or friends to bring a pie dessert over the evening before Thanksgiving. Everyone can sample the variety of pies and enjoy each others company. Then your leftover pie can serve as dessert on Thanksgiving day. What do you think?
The pies can be easy, fancy, homemade, or store-bought. Whatever works! The different versions and varieties are what will make it fun. Well, that and the fact that you get to just gorge yourself on pie.
Maybe it would be cool to make a dinner event of it and serve some small portions of Chicken Pot Pie or Shepherd’s Pie too. Or have 3 days of pies: Thanksgiving Eve Pie Bar, leftover pie for dessert on Thanksgiving, then use leftover turkey to make Turkey Pot Pie the next day.
