The kindle fire has been this price for a while.
huh… it was 199 on Friday when I checked.
I think you might be mistaking it with the Kindle Fire HD which is usually $199.
Shannon- Take a look here: http://fabulesslyfrugal.com/2011/11/officemax-deals-kindle-fire-174-free-bags-free-paper-more.html you can see that the Kindle Fire was $199 last year. The HD is a newer model and is priced at $199 and the price of the kindle fire has dropped to $159.
The $159 is not simply a mark-down on the previous generation Fire. The previous Fire has been retired and was replaced with a new one with a faster processor and a few other minor bells and whistles. It has been priced at $159 since its release several weeks ago. It’s a good deal, no doubt, compared to the previous version, but it’s not a discounted price that’s going to go away.
The bottom line is this:
In large, bold type, you’ve printed “Get the Kindle Fire now, before prices go up!!” with a link to the $159 Kindle. That price is NOT going to go up–not anytime soon. That is the regular price for that item.
I got rid of the line. I’m sorry you are so very upset about this. Is it fixed to your satisfaction?
I wasn’t “so” upset. I was annoyed that wrong information was posted from which this site, which I often find quite useful, could profit. . . again.
Yes, this isn’t a great price for the regular Kindle fire. If it was the HD version, I’d be all over it!!
PLEASE be more careful with the “deals” you post. Between the Star Wars LEGO item you posted last month and now this, it makes you seem like a less than credible source for deals–and it may cause your readers to unnecessarily rush to make a purchase.
Thank you for your concern. The older model kindles have been dropping in price since the new models have been coming out. The 6″ was $79 forever and just dropped to $69 last month. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007HCCNJU/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B007HCCNJU&linkCode=as2&tag=mofab-20 Now some of the upgraded models are dropping in price too like the fire 7″. You can see here that last year it sold for $199 http://fabulesslyfrugal.com/2011/11/officemax-deals-kindle-fire-174-free-bags-free-paper-more.html
We do our research and work really hard to bring you the best deals. I hope this helps you see that and that you still have faith in us.
I appreciate this, but the Kindle Becky posted about has been $159 for a few weeks now, and it will remain that price for a while, so there was probably no need for the “price probably won’t last” bit.
Since it’s my understanding that FF makes a small commission whenever a purchase is made via a “clickthrough” it would be nice if this piece was edited to reflect reality: that there’s no rush to buy this item at this price.
I mean no offense and would be happy to speak with you about this off-blog.
It still is $199 and has been for a while. You shouldn’t post deals unless you are correct with the information.
Sarah – It depends on the model you are looking for. Last years models are dropping in price.
They brought in the new Fire HD and priced it at $199 and dropped the price of the kindle fire to $159.
