- 1/4 tsp baking soda plus 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp baking soda plus 1/2 C sour milk, buttermilk, or yogurt (decrease liquid called for in recipe by 1/2 C)
- 1/4 tsp baking soda plus 1/4 to 1/2 C molasses (decrease liquid in recipe by 1 to 2 tbsp

Good point Helen. It is nice to have an alternative to wasting time and gas running to the store when you are caught in a pinch though.
