DIY Cupcake plates & Cake plate {Picture Tutorial}

Hey Y’all! Today I’m going to show you how to make super cute cupcake and cake plates. I just hosted a bridal shower for my future sister-in-law. We had an assortment of cupcakes and I wanted some cupcake plates for the tablescape. I  didn’t want to spend a lot of money buying them so I made my own with just a few things from the thrift store and dollar store.

These were very inexpensive and easy to make. I have been scouting out the thrift store and dollar store for the supplies I needed to make these. Here is what you need:

what you need plates

I got the saucers and candlesticks from the Goodwill. I got the green plate and ice cream dish from dollar tree. You need a glue gun or E6000 glue. I used a glue gun because I wanted to be able to take them apart for easier storage. If you want it to be permanent use the E6000 glue. I spent around $7 for everything! The ones I found on Etsy were $18 for 1 plate!

This ice cream dish was perfect for a cake plate. It is bigger so it could support plate better than a candlestick.  Put hot glue on the bottom of the ice cream dish then place it in the center of the bottom of the plate.

I used my hand to apply even pressure to help it form a good bond.

Do the same for the saucers and candle sticks

Apply hot glue to the bottom of the candlesticks and center on the saucer.

Here they are all done. I wanted different heights for them so it would give more dimension to the table so that is why I used different candlesticks.

Here’s the table from the shower. I love how it looked with  my homemade cupcake and cake plates.

We put some flowers on them also.  When the shower was over,they easily came apart to clean and store.
