Sausage Hash is one of the favorite freezer meals in our group. Everyone seems to love it, even the picky eaters! If you do not have time to start a freezer meal group you DO have time to cook this meal triple and freeze two for later! This recipe is so easy…
I love that this recipe calls for carrots! Sneak some veggies in my families diet! Doesn’t that orange color look beautiful?
In order to make Sausage Hash triple batch for freezer meals, you will need…
- 3 lbs ground sausage
- 3 c. shredded carrots (about 3 carrots)
- 1½ c. finely chopped onion (or 1½ t onion powder if you do not have onion on hand)
- 9 c. frozen potatoes cubes (this is the easy way, you can also bake potatoes and cube them, that is the frugal way!)
- 3 c. shredded mozzarella cheese Cheese Coupon Use zip 83702
Cook ground sausage thoroughly in pan. Add onion and carrots and cook for 5 more minutes.

Add potatoes and simmer for 20 minute. Check and stir often. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Set aside 2/3 or your meat mixture and let it cool.
Sprinkle sausage and potatoes with cheese.
Let melt and serve.
After the sausage had cooled divide it equally and put it in freezer bags or vacuum seal in a Foodsaver.

I love that you gals post recipes.
When I want to try one out, I copy/paste it to Word so that I can print it. It would be great if you had a “friendly” link to print or save the recipe, like I’ve seen on other blogs.
There’s one blog in particular that has a really handy recipe feature. The save/print features have options to save/print only the text, the text plus the main photo of the finished dish, or the text plus all the photos. I love this because I like to have the main photo but I don’t need all the step-by step photos, and without the additional photos everything fits on one page. This way all readers can copy/print just the pieces they want.
Just a suggestion. Not saying that you need to copy other blogs, but the “friendly” features to save or print recipes would be a great addition to FF.
Great feedback Susan! We do have this feature. We probably are not pointing it out well enough. I will add a link to the post. Appreciate your feedback! http://fabulesslyfrugal.com/2011/03/easy-shopping-list.html
On the Sausage Hash recipe, how would/could you reheat the frozen portions?
Just in a skillet with a little bit of oil. I heat the potatoes first according to the package directions and then add the sausage and carrot mixture.
