We’ve got exciting news for Albertsons Intermountain West shoppers!
Last October, Monica and I were invited to the Albertsons corporate headquarters to help identify what in the Albertsons coupon policy needed to be clarified. Because of your comments and emails, as well as the frustrations we experienced first hand, there was some clarification needed.
Key issues we suggested needed clarification and/or needed to be re-evaluated:
- BOGO coupons – combining a store BOGO sale with a manufactures BOGO coupon and getting both items free.
- Twice the Value Coupons – some shoppers needed clarification about using them to double store coupons, we had readers state that they were able to use a store coupon AND a Twice the Value coupon.
- Overage – in some cases, 1 manufacturer coupon is worth more than the product. Albertsons used to adjust the value of the coupon down. We pointed out that they would be reimbursed by manufacturer for the full value of the coupon and therefore would not lose any revenue.
- The coupon policy was difficult to find and a downloadable copy would be preferred so couponers can keep one in their binder for clarification while in the store.
New Additions to the Albertsons Coupon Policy… effective 12/17/11:
- Coupons that exceed the retail value of an item will have the remaining amount applied to the balance of the transaction. In the event a transaction balance results in a “credit,” additional items WILL be added/suggested to the order to utilize the remaining value of the coupon. We will not provide any “cash back” on coupons; however we will provide full redemption value.
- Albertsons offers of Buy One, Get One Free (BOGO) promotions in their weekly advertisement can be combined with Buy One, Get One Free manufacturer coupons to result in BOTH items being Free. The items in the manufacturer coupon must exactly match our weekly advertisement offers and meet the redemption criteria.
- Albertsons will accept ONE manufacturer coupon and ONE store coupon on the same qualifying item. (Twice the Value coupons are considered a store coupon.)
Download and Print your copy of the official Albertsons Coupon Policy
- The link to the policy will be on the website at 12:01 am 12/17/2011.
- Albertsons provided us with a copy of the policy and you can print it out. Just click here to download and print the Albertsons Coupon Policy.
- The policy is effective on Saturday December 17th 2011.
Now go to Albertsons on facebook and tell them how much you love them.
While you’re there, see this post: ”Albertsons Holiday Open House TODAY (Dec 16) from 4-7pm. Snack while you shop! Enjoy Holiday meal samples, entertaining tips and more!”

Theses are great changes!! SO EXCITED!
does albertsons “Intermountain West” include Washington?
YES! WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, and UT.
yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
Now if we could only get doubles….
Ditto!! Wish we could get our Doublers back!!
Woooooooooo!
Man I wish we had Albertsons here on the East Coast. I am so jealous of the great deals you guys can get. My grocery store only doubles coupons up to 50 cents and our prices are way higher than yours according to the match ups you have on here. I would LOVE to get the low prices you have and on top of that get coupons doubled up to $1 which is what I’ve gathered you get at Albertsons.
Do you have Publix? Their BOGO sales + Coupons are amazing. I miss Publix!
Don’t have Publix…YET. We are supposed to have one by next year and I am so excited I can’t stand it. Of course it will be 20 minutes away from me but from what I hear about them it will be worth the drive.
Girl I don’t know where you live, but the Albie’s here is PRICEY!!! The ONLY time I shop there is when I have TTV coupons and even then I only buy items on sale that I can double a coupon on cause they are so expensive. I can’t wait to go back to the East Coast where most stores double coupons daily, not just occasionally (like here with the TTV’s). I WISH I got even a mere .50 cents doubled on every shopping trip.
Oh really??? All the deals I see posted on here look so incredible that I assumed they must be the most awesome place to shop.
I have Kroger here in Tennessee and I am very thankful for the coupons doubled up to 50 cents. It’s definitely better than nothing which is what every other grocery store here offers. Kroger used to offer double coupons up to $1 like once a month or once every two months but they NEVER offer that anymore. But, you’re right, double coupons up to 50 cents on a daily basis is great! It makes a tremendous difference in our grocery bill.
Did you find out or do you know why they won’t let us use ttv coupons at the Tooele Utah store? So sad I really want to use them and get them in my area! If they let the stores in So Utah then why not where I am?
This is a great Christmas present!!!!!! I so love Albies!!! :} Going to shop there way more now!!
Nice work! I really appreciate the effort that you put in to these clarifications.
Thank you so much!
On the buy one get one free sales, it says you can use a B1G1 coupon to result in both items being free. Can you use two $ or cents off coupons on a B1G1 sale? I would assume you can, but I didn’t see the new policy state it specifically? Thank you FAB ladies so much for all of your hard work!!
This is a policy that I would so appreciate some clarification. While I have heard that you can use two coupons on a B1G1 but it has been hit or miss with store managers in ID. I’d like to be able to highlight the policy that says I can do it and keep it in my binder. Thanks!!
Overage, great! BOGO, nice! I don’t get the third item mentioned however…
“Albertsons will accept ONE manufacturer coupon and ONE store coupon on the same qualifying item. (Twice the Value coupons are considered a store coupon.)”
This has always been the case, especially with Twice the Value coupons. What’s new about this? I don’t get it…?
It’s not new…but some people didn’t get it….so this wording perhaps would make it more clear for both customers and Albertsons stores/cashiers alike.
wow……..so excited. it is nice that they are listening to us coupon users…….nice to know we can do good and make a difference in policies to make shopping easier
I NEVER get any double the value coupons in Yakima and I’m not sure why. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to get them for me on a regular basis? I would of course compensate you for your time and shipping
What about overage with a doubler, though?
Coupons that exceed the retail value of an item will have the remaining amount applied to the balance of the transaction. In the event a transaction balance results in a “credit,” additional items WILL be added/suggested to the order to utilize the remaining value of the coupon. We will not provide any “cash back” on coupons; however we will provide full redemption value.
—–it says you can get overage towards the order when a coupon is more than the item. But what about if you double a coupon and it gives you overage…same? “In the event a transaction balance….” – sounds like it…but still not crystal clear.
They won’t give you overage when using a doubler.
I love the new policies. The problem of the stores not knowing about these changes is terrible though. I went to my Albies today with TTV’s and a few coupons that would have resulted in overage in hand and guess what……NO ONE at that store knew about the policy changes. So after yet another frustrating and long checkout process, and knowing the new policy better than anyone at the store, I have to say that I’m about ready to give up on Albies. I love their TTV’s but I absolutely detest the inconsistencies between the policy I have printed out and have in my binder, and the policy that the store will follow. UGH!
One more change that readers should be aware of is manufacture coupons with a “redeemable at Walmart” or “redeemable at Publix” are no longer accepted. I took in a $1/2 Ritz coupon this morning that had “redeemable at Walmart” printed on it and they refused to take it. I was miffed so I checked their new policy and lo and behold, it’s written right in there. Made for an interesting trip. Please let other readers know this.
Yes I also did the same with the ritz crackers so I just went to walmart and priced matched toget my deal!

Has anyone had to deal with the amount of transactions you can do in one day…I was told the new policy is a limit of 3 per day.. However, i don’t see that in the policy…

So, since Albies now gives overage will they double a coupon values for more than one dollar? Example: If I have a 2.00 coupon will they double up to 1.00? And, one more issue to discuss with corporate might be that they dont have enough stock. I went yesterday to do the kikkoman soy sause deal and there was none, of course. The problem is that you can clearly see that there were probably 6 or 8 bottles to begin with. I have had this problem alot at the albies here in beaverton, or.
Hi Linda, no they will still only double coupons valued at $1.00 or less. Also, they will just adjust the value of the double down to make the item free… the double can not produce overage.

I have a question that i don’t see on the policy? Albertson’s say they only allow three transaction if you do doublers but i didnt see that in your policy? could you tell me?
Hi Christina,
The 3 transactions rule has always been in their policy, so although we don’t highlight it in the post above, it is in their policy, which you’ll see when you download it by clicking on the link in the post.
Thank you!

When they say limit 4 on an item is that per transaction? For example they currently have the Progresso soup .99 with in ad coupon. If I find another coupon can I get the deal again in a different transaction?
You sure can!

I was at my local Albertsons tonight shopping the Round-Up specials. I had some mfg coupons that provided an overage (they were over $1 and did not qualify for the rounding up of the coupon) and was told they will ring up to the value of the item and not give overage. They didn’t add any overage when they were scanned. I was told by the manager that there is a new Albertsons modification to the policy that limits the amount of manufacturer coupon that gives overages. I’m trying to find an updated policy that tells what the new overage limit is. Can anyone help?
I know they stated you couldn’t get overage with the roundup, buy you”re saying this had nothing to do with the roundup? What store were you shopping at?
Yes, that’s correct. I was using other coupons that rounded up, but not these. They were too high to round up, so taken at face value. I was shopping at Albertsons in Corvallis, Oregon. I’ve used high value manufacturer coupons there before and the employees that were helping me know me well and never hassle me. We may discuss something or clarify but they are always accommodating while following the rules. They specifically told me there was a change to the Albertsons policy that affected *some* coupons. I was using a high value coupon and it was ringing up at .69, so I knew something was up when my total was way off.
I do know they won’t take coupons that are valued over $5.00. Was this the case?
Yes, but on the coupon policy it states they won’t take Internet coupons valued over $5. I didn’t see anywhere they don’t take regular manufacturer coupons valued higher. These were for food.

Can you double the $1.00 coupons that we get in the more you shop the more you save deals this weekend? If so, can you please give a sample of how one would do so?
Thanks so much.
Yes you can double the $1 catalina it does not go towards a certain product just to the overall basket. I know you should be able to do this because when Cathy and I met with the people at corporate I had them address this very question. However I have not seen all stores consistently doing this at checkout. So YMMV.

I’m slightly confused about using coupons with BOGO promotions. If there is a BOGO advertised deal in the albertsons ad, can I use two seperate coupons and have one coupon apply towards one item and the other coupon towards the 2nd “free” item? It’s not clear to me in the policy…thanks!
