Last year, I really wanted to make some candied nuts during the Christmas season. I tried a couple of other recipes before this one that weren’t so great. Once I made this one though, there was no need to try any others. This recipe is easy and turns out great every time.
Cashews: $5.00/lb is good, ★$4.00/lb is excellent, ★stock up if $3.00/lb or less
Walnuts: $3.50/lb is good, ★$3.00/lb is excellent, ★stock up if $2.50/lb or less
Sugar Crusted Pecans & Cashews
- 1 egg white
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 lb pecan halves or cashews (I think almonds and walnuts are good too)
- 1 c sugar
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Preheat to 250. Grease a baking sheet. (I like to use my Silpat mat.)
Whisk together egg white and water until frothy. In a separate bowl, mix sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
Add nuts to egg mixture and stir to coat. Remove nuts and toss them in the sugar mixture until well coated. Spread nuts out on the baking sheet.
Bake for 1 hour. Stir every 15 minutes.
Makes about 4 cups.

Do you think this recipe would work with Almonds? I had a friend give me a bunch of almonds.
Definitely. When I made this yesterday, I used raw cashews and almonds. (That is what is in the picture above.)
Wonderful! My friend gave me a ton of almonds and I thought something like this would be perfect. Thanks for the recipe!!
