All of my friends (and some extended family) are getting a gift bag with a jar of homemade fig jam, vanilla sugar (sugar in the raw infused with vanilla) and also homemade vanilla extract. I got the two vanilla recipes off of pinterest (i swear that site is like crack).

I bought vanilla beans off amazon, cut them in half, and put them in mason jars with rum (you can use vodka too but I needed it gluten free) if you go to pinterest and search for DIY vanilla extract you can find more exact directions. It does take quite a bit of time…I started mine back in july.

I love making gifts and my husband and I decided we are going to make all our Christmas gifts this year (but I did use vistaprint to make calendars of my one year old for her grandparents – but that’s considered still making). For most of the women, I am making homemade chai concentrate, hand balm, and note cards. For the teen girls, I am making those bath bombs (those things that fizzle in the bath – super easy!) and bracelets. For my nephew and my little girl, I am painting those blank nesting dolls from hobby lobby (robot for the little boy). For my traveling sister (coming home from Spain), I am making a special aromatherapy airplane survival kit – lavender massage oil, immunity oil and oreganol oil.
Some of my family are getting homemade sugar scrub. I just made it today and it was SUPER easy. Granulated sugar, oil (I used grapeseed oil, but I think you could use others), and a few drops of orange essential oil. I put them in some size 2 & 3 baby food jars I saved and printed up a little note. Done!
That doesn’t sound too hard. I like that idea.
