I thought it might be worth mentioning that you must purchase every $100 worth of cards in separate transactions. I did it 3 times with no problems.
Silly question… I want to buy an item off Amazon that is $400. Am I allowed to use 4 gift cards on it or is it limited to one per purchase?

I know you can use a bunch of gift cards on Amazon. I’ve been told “unlimited”, so you can put your codes in your account & not worry about keeping track of them or gift cards. The credits will be there waiting for you the next time you want to make a purchase.

HI, This same deal was available at Safeway but different cards were limited. In comparison the $15 you got back had a stipulation that you had to use on $50 purchase. Is there a minimum required to use with the $20?
Kim, last time around the coupon/catalina stated it was “$20 off any purchase of $20 or more.” I’m guessing (hoping) it is the same this time around.
The fine print for the Safeway/Vons deal is a min. purchase of $50 (at my store)

I called my local Albertson’s here in the Portland area and they are doing the gift card promo!
It is also hidden at the bottom of the ad. My store had no signs whatsoever promoting it, but it worked!
I’m nervous to try cause for some reason I can not find it hidden in the add but going to overland and five mile and thats where you say you did it.
The last time they did this promotion, I bought Lowe’s cards for my bathroom remodel that I was already working on…Yea for (almost) free food!
What region is this valid in? I ask because here in Arizona, you do not use your Albertsons cards. They do not use them anymore. Everybody gets preferred prices.

Debra, the Meridian stores confirmed the stores/restaurants are the same everywhere as shown in picture of Mavis’ post. I think the only one we don’t have here in SW Idaho is the Calif. Pizza Co., as Brinker’s is same as Chili’s, and DHS is the new shoe store chain.

I confirmed it with 3 different local Meridian, ID stores tonight – although details from the night staff are VERY sketchy. There are apparently marketing displays inside the stores with the promotion details. It was not in the weekly ad or on Facebook – just in store promo display. The stores eligible to purchase gift cards for (e.g. Lowe’s, ITunes, etc.) are the same here in Treasure Valley. I think the only store/business we do not have here is California Pizza Company restaurants.

Linda, I laughed out loud when I read Gil’s comment about returning the appliances. But, then I got to thinking that Lowe;s is really good about such things. I bet they would let you bring in the receipt and let you “repurchase” one of the appliances with the gift cards. Just a thought….

I went and bought $200 tonight in Amazon, did 2 separate transactions and didn’t get a Catalina for either one. Does anyone have the phone number for the Catalina company. They couldn’t do anything for me at the store and told me to call the Catalina company. Any help would be great.

Robin, a catalina coupon does not print out. The $20 Albertsons Store Coupon will print out on your receipt. Check your receipt.
I went to the Albertson’s in Eagle. I just checked my reciepts. I did get the $20 off on one of the transactions, but not the other. The only difference is that I added a Claire’s gift card on one of the transactions. Maybe they aren’t included. Bummer.

No, Claire’s is not included. It is just the 19 retailers/restaurants listed in Mavis’ posting above. I wonder if you could “return” the cards from the failed transaction and repurchase with qualifying cards?

Heather, you don’t need to spend $100 on groceries,, unless you are planning to purchase $500 worth of the gift cards? This promo is buy $100 in the gift cards, then get $20 towards groceries.
When they ran this promo last time in the spring, I filled my freezer with boneless chicken breasts (the meat dept packaged them for me in smaller units in their freezer paper), some of the lean boneless pork chops and some ground turkey. Granted, they were in the middle of some good sales prices on all of the meat at the time, but it can still add up fast. We are still working on using up that stock-up! Hope that helps.

When I buy my chicken in bulk I have started cooking it all at once and then freezing it. So easy to pull a piece out and have it with a meal. Plus most of the mess is made all at once. You can broil them for 7 min on one side, 6 min on the other and then let them rest under tin foil for 15 min. Then freeze individually and place in freezer bags. So fast and easy for dinners.

Yes, this doesn’t seem to be happening in California, at least yet. I asked my store today, in San Luis Obispo county, and they said all they have right now is 10% of your next purchase. Hope we get it soon!

Our local Vons is having issues w/the coupons for the $15 off your next order (after purchase of $100 in gift cards) also, but they hand wrote out 2 for me after my $200 g.c. purchase. If the Alberson’s deal happens I’ll jump no it but at least we have the Vons deal (only through 11/23)

The closest I’ve ever seen Freds do is double or even quadruple points. I also LOVE the fact that this goes towards my fuel discount! $.10 off my fuel for every $100.00 spent!
Tonight I went to Albie’s and the checker warned me that I might not want to purchase 2 $100 gift certificates in one day (even in different transactions) because two $20 offers might not print out.
So I only bought 1 $100 gift card. I got the $20 certificate, but does anyone know if this is actually an issue?

I just went and bought $1000 worth of gift cards (kitchen remodel happening in Jan/Feb) and had no problem getting the $20 to print each time. Then I was able to turn around and use 2 of them. Scanned no problem. A third one wouldn’t, so I’ll go back tomorrow. Over Thanksgiving, I will use the $20, have my mom, sister, and sis-in-law use them. I also got a bunch of $2 off $5 at the deli, so we’ll hit Albies for lunch on Black Friday.
This is a brilliant idea! I bought $1500 worth of Home Depot cards for our new windows that we put in a month after buying a house. It was so nice to get so much free groceries! I wish we had the funds to buy enough gift cards for all the many projects to do inside this winter.

I did 3 transactions back to back. On two of them they had difficulty having the receipt print out. The first one was because the checker forgot to scan my Albertsons rewards card. The second one was because the gift cards that I picked up were scanning as phone cards for some odd reason. Anyway, the manager fixed it all in about 5 minutes and then I was on my way…..with $60 to spend on groceries this week. Woo hoo!
I called Home Depot today to see if you can pay your store card payment with a gift card. They said no. Just thought that was a helpful bit of information someone else might benefit from.

Just so you know it says on the bottom you can’t use these to buy liquid milk products. I had milk in my transaction today and it would not work till we took off the milk and rang up some more groceries.

I called several friends and family members and asked if I could use their preferred card numbers. So I went in with an index card with 7 different phone numbers/cards to use. Worked like a charm. It’s linked to the preferred card number.

Ok, I have to spend $60 by Tuesday before the new add comes out. (I haven’t spent $60 at Albertsons…ever?) I am freaking just a little because nothing is on sale until Wednesday! i thought I might go and get milk or a whole bunch of yams that were on sale, but they are off sale after Thanksgiving. This is the only week of the year they don’t have an ad. It really doesn’t seem like you are saving money if you have to pay more than you normally would. so i thought we could post ideas what everyone is going to spend their coupons on. i would use it for water and meat, or other things that dont go on sale regularly. or other thigns u use a lot of.
I would use it on meat too if I needed it. I like to spend some of mine on things that I normally wouldn’t buy like special mommy only ice cream or coffee creamer.
Some people stock up on pasta or chicken. Mavis bought apples and pumpkins (among other things). Are there things you need/want that don’t go on sale often anyway? Veggies, Fruit, frozen food, meat, juice, crappy junk food (yeah sometimes you just need some doritos!). Have fun!!!
